Cao De led the three girls all the way to the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest without encountering a single Soul Beast.
He already knew that the Sky Azure Bull Python had secretly released its oppressive aura, driving away the Soul Beasts along their route.
What puzzled Cao De was that Ning Rongrong was smiling again, chatting happily with Xiao Wu.
Cao De did not ask any questions. When they reached the outskirts, Zhao Wuji and the others were nowhere to be seen.
"Why don't we get something to eat and rest for the night before heading back?" Cao De asked.
"Okay."
Someone lurking in the shadows watched Xiao Wu and the other two girls, his eyes gleaming with lust.
Cao De took the three girls into the largest hotel, the Chrysanthemum Hotel. Money was the last thing he lacked now.
Seeing the words "Chrysanthemum Hotel" brought certain memories flashing through Xiao Wu's mind, turning her face scarlet.
"Boss, a private room, and bring us all your best dishes," Ning Rongrong said first.
"Rongrong, let my brother pay. He's loaded." Xiao Wu tugged at Ning Rongrong's arm.
"It's fine. I have plenty of money," Ning Rongrong said with a smile, though there was a hint of bitterness in it.
They sat around the table, enjoying their meal and drinking quite a bit of alcohol.
Xiao Wu hugged a bottle in her drunken daze. "This looks like a carrot. I want to eat it."
She moved to bite it as soon as she finished speaking. Caught between laughter and tears, Cao De hurriedly stopped her.
"I'll take Xiao Wu upstairs first." Cao De scooped Xiao Wu into his arms.
"Okay," Zhu Zhuqing replied. Ning Rongrong kept her head lowered as she ate, taking another sip of alcohol.
After settling Xiao Wu in, Cao De came downstairs again, only to find the other two girls gone.
Holding a bottle, Cao De strolled out of the hotel and leaped onto its highest rooftop.
The moon shone brightly. Cao De drank as he gazed up at it.
Ning Rongrong staggered along a narrow path, occasionally raising the bottle in her left hand for a drink.
But the bottle was already empty. Irritated, she shook it before hurling it at a tree.
"You liar! You bastard!" Ning Rongrong stumbled up to the tree and unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks, tears falling to the ground with every movement.
"Little girl, why are you out here all alone? Let big brother take you home." A sleazy man licked his dry lips.
Ning Rongrong's mind cleared a little. "Get lost," she said coldly.
With that, she headed back the way she had come.
"A feisty little thing, aren't you?" The man rubbed his hands lecherously.
After checking his surroundings, he strode quickly after Ning Rongrong.
Sensing the man moving behind her, Ning Rongrong could no longer pretend to be calm. She broke into a run toward the street.
"Don't run, little girl." The man walked slowly, savoring this game of cat and mouse.
Hearing his voice, Ning Rongrong ran even faster. But the alcohol had left her unsteady, and she stumbled and fell flat on the ground.
Regret flooded Ning Rongrong's heart. Why had she come out in the middle of the night? She watched the man draw closer and closer.
Forcing her voice to remain cold, Ning Rongrong said, "I'm the daughter of Ning Fengzhi of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. If you dare touch me, I promise you'll die a horrible death."
At the mention of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, apprehension appeared in the sleazy man's eyes.
But seeing Ning Rongrong kneeling on the ground, the flames of desire blazed in his heart, instantly devouring his fear.
"It's fine, little girl. Once you're dead, no one will know I did it." Madness flickered in the sleazy man's eyes.
His rough hand reached for Ning Rongrong.
Terror filled Ning Rongrong's eyes as countless figures flashed through her mind: her father, Grandpa Bone, Grandpa Sword, and Cao De.
In the end, Cao De's figure remained etched deep in her mind.
"Perhaps this is what it means to love someone you can never have." Ning Rongrong smiled bitterly and drew the dagger at her waist.
"That won't help." The sleazy man licked his lips.
The moment he finished speaking, Ning Rongrong's dagger fell to the ground. She stared in terror at the five Soul Rings glowing around him, her eyes filled with despair.
"Little girl, here I come." The sleazy man reached out with a grin.
Ning Rongrong backed away in terror.
Whoosh!
A purple blade shard shot toward the sleazy man, who hurriedly raised his hand to block it.
But his Martial Soul, Ghost Hand, was pierced through in an instant. Terror spread across his face, and he tried to flee.
Yet more purple blade shards came hurtling toward him.
"Fifth Soul Skill, Invisible Strike!" the sleazy man roared.
A massive black hand instantly blocked the incoming shards.
Before he could catch his breath, another wave of shards flew toward him.
They pierced straight through the center of his forehead.
As Ning Rongrong watched the purple blades streak through the air, a piece of clothing blocked her view.
"It's all right. It's all right." A pair of arms pulled Ning Rongrong into an embrace.
Hearing that voice beside her ear, the taut string in Ning Rongrong's heart snapped, and she burst into sobs.
"Boohoo... it's all your fault!" Ning Rongrong buried herself in Cao De's arms, pouring out the emotions she had just been forced to suppress.
Her fat tears soaked Cao De's clothes.
"It's all right. It's all right." Cao De gently stroked Ning Rongrong's back.
Ning Rongrong hiccupped through her sobs and gave Cao De's waist a vicious pinch.
"Hss!" He let out a muffled groan.
Ning Rongrong immediately loosened her grip and gently rubbed the spot she had pinched.
"Don't you dislike me? Why did you come looking for me?" Ning Rongrong blinked her big, tear-filled eyes at Cao De.
"When did I ever say I disliked you?" Cao De blinked too, looking utterly innocent.
"Then what did you mean when you told me Xiao Wu was your first woman?" As Ning Rongrong spoke, mist welled up in her eyes again.
"I meant that Xiao Wu is already my woman. Would you still like me?" Cao De gently wiped the tears from the corners of Ning Rongrong's eyes.
Ning Rongrong merely looked at Cao De without speaking.
Cao De gently drew Ning Rongrong into his arms. "Even if you don't like me, I'll still like you."
Those words instantly set Ning Rongrong's heart racing, and a blush crept across her face.
She buried her head against Cao De's chest, listening to his powerful heartbeat.
Ning Rongrong gently hugged Cao De and said softly, "I like you too."
Cao De cupped Ning Rongrong's little face in both hands, lowered his head, and kissed her.
He pried apart her pearly teeth and began storming her defenses, conquering her territory. Ning Rongrong could only retreat and defend.
But the battlefield was small. Before she could escape far, she encountered Cao De again and could only respond clumsily.
Only when Ning Rongrong's little face turned red from holding her breath did Cao De let her go.
"You don't know how to breathe?" Cao De chuckled.
"So what if I don't?" Ning Rongrong raised her chin haughtily.
"It's fine. I'll teach you slowly." Cao De gently planted a kiss on Ning Rongrong's forehead.
He scooped her into his arms. "Now, Princess Rongrong, it's time for us to head back."
"Okay." Ning Rongrong wrapped her arms around Cao De's neck and smiled.
Countless purple blades hovered in the air, a beautiful sight.
Ning Rongrong asked curiously, "Cao De, is this your new Soul Skill?"
"This is my fourth Soul Skill: Piercing," Cao De replied with a smile.
With a thought, the remaining Demon Blade Shards traced purple arcs through the air and flew behind him.
Thousands more holes appeared in Bu Le's body behind them.
Ning Rongrong leaned toward Cao De's Adam's apple, kissed it gently, and gave it a lick.
The gesture sent a sudden tremor through Cao De's heart.
Is this a new side of Ning Rongrong? Isn't it a little too powerful?
Cao De's thoughts raced, and he issued a command in his mind.
