The mood in the other carriage was heavy. Zhao Wuji sat with his brows tightly furrowed, a thousand thoughts churning in his mind.
He had offended Tang San beyond repair. Even if he apologized and made amends now, Tang San would never forgive him.
He still remembered the look in Tang San's eyes. If Tang San had been strong enough, he would definitely have killed him.
Fortunately, Tang San was still weak. Crushing him now would be as easy as crushing an ant, but if Tang San died, Tang Hao would surely wipe out Shrek Academy.
Then he would die too.
If he spared Tang San, Tang San would eventually tell Tang Hao, and he would still die.
Zhao Wuji's thoughts raced, and his eyes narrowed.
If Tang San forgot what had happened, everything would be fine.
Zhao Wuji's gaze sharpened as a plan formed in his mind.
The carriages did not return to Shrek Academy until dusk.
"Brother, Rongrong and I are heading back first. Bye!" Xiao Wu waved her little hand and pulled Ning Rongrong toward their dormitory.
Cao De smiled helplessly and said to Zhu Zhuqing beside him, "Bye."
"Bye," Zhu Zhuqing replied.
Cao De headed toward his dormitory too.
The night breeze was quiet and gentle.
"Come on, Oscar. Now that you've recovered, I'll take you out for some fun tonight," Dai Mubai said with a grin, draping an arm around Oscar's shoulders.
"Sure, Boss Dai. You're paying tonight."
"No problem."
The two walked farther and farther away. Zhao Wuji slowly emerged from the shadows and, after making sure they were gone, headed upstairs.
He pushed open the dormitory door. The room was a mess, but Tang San was nowhere to be seen.
Keeping his footsteps light, Zhao Wuji checked the rooms one by one, finally pinpointing the bathroom.
He pressed his palm against the lock and poured powerful Soul Power into it, destroying the lock cylinder outright.
"Who's there?" Tang San's cold voice came from inside.
Zhao Wuji shoved the door open.
Tang San was squatting with paper in his left hand. He was clearly taking a shit.
"Zhao Wuji, what are you doing here?" Tang San stared at Zhao Wuji's cloth-covered face, his eyes full of confusion.
Zhao Wuji froze for a moment, unsure how Tang San had recognized him. But there was no time to worry about that now.
Zhao Wuji reached out to grab Tang San.
With his Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Tang San should certainly have been able to dodge. But the current Tang San, who was still taking a shit, obviously could not.
Zhao Wuji seized him by the back of his collar.
"Zhao Wuji, what are you doing?" Tang San roared.
Worried that Tang San's loud shout would attract someone, Zhao Wuji grabbed a rag from nearby and stuffed it into his mouth.
Tang San hurriedly tried to pinch off his shit. His instinct was not to break free of Zhao Wuji's massive hand, but to pull up his trousers.
Zhao Wuji did not care whether Tang San had his trousers on. His large hand came crashing down toward the back of Tang San's head.
Tang San's hair stood on end. Abandoning his half-raised trousers, he darted aside, only to trip over the trousers around his ankles the instant he stepped out.
As luck would have it, he landed butt-first on what he had just produced.
Fortunately, Zhao Wuji's attack missed.
"Mmph! Mmph! Mmph!" Tang San let out muffled roars.
Having missed once, Zhao Wuji attacked again, slapping the back of Tang San's head with his huge hand.
"Mmph!" Tang San grunted. His vision darkened, and he braced himself with both hands, trying to stand.
Surprise crossed Zhao Wuji's face, and his massive hand slammed the back of Tang San's head again.
Thump! Tang San slid forward several centimeters. The unpleasant sensation beneath his backside made him howl through the gag.
Tang San struggled to get up, but Zhao Wuji's huge hand descended again.
Thump! Fury surged through Tang San. No longer caring whether he could stand, he activated Mysterious Jade Hand and struck straight at little Zhao Wuji.
The surprise in Zhao Wuji's eyes deepened. He dodged sideways while unleashing three palm strikes in succession, each heavier and fiercer than before.
Tang San still wanted to resist, but all that awaited him was that merciless iron hand.
Tang San went numb. He remembered eating a little too much that evening and coming to take a shit. Then Zhao Wuji had burst through the door with a cloth over his face and started relentlessly pounding the back of his head.
Tang San was bewildered, his eyes turning vacant.
Seeing Tang San like this, Zhao Wuji finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He took a book out of his Storage Soul Tool and leafed through it carefully, looking from the book to Tang San.
Tang San raised his head blankly and saw the title: "A Step-by-Step Guide to Making Someone Lose Their Memory."
The author was someone named Nuomi.
Tang San's composure shattered. After all this, he just wants to make me lose my memory? Then why the hell is he torturing me?! He frantically cursed that fucking idiot author, Nuomi, in his mind.
Seeing clarity return to Tang San's eyes, Zhao Wuji immediately delivered another two slaps.
Tang San silently kept his eyes vacant.
Only then did Zhao Wuji breathe a sigh of relief and pick up the book again to check the second step.
Forcefully inject Soul Power through the upper star acupoint, Zhao Wuji recited silently.
Consulting the book, he forcefully injected Soul Power into an acupoint on Tang San's head.
Veins bulged on Tang San's forehead as pain swept through his entire body.
He could no longer understand what Zhao Wuji was trying to do. If he wanted to erase his memory, shouldn't he inject Soul Power into the upper star acupoint? Why was he injecting it into the divine court acupoint?
An enormous surge of Soul Power battered the divine court acupoint again, and excruciating pain engulfed Tang San's body.
The pain nearly split Tang San's eyes, but to Zhao Wuji, this looked like Tang San stubbornly resisting the loss of his memory through sheer willpower.
As expected of Clear Sky Douluo's son. His willpower really is formidable, Zhao Wuji thought.
He increased both the frequency and intensity of his Soul Power injections. The more Tang San suffered, the more Soul Power he poured in.
As this repeated, Tang San gradually discovered the pattern. No matter how much it hurt, he endured it.
And so, even as his entire body convulsed with pain, Tang San still had to pretend to be a vacant idiot.
Finally, the third step, Zhao Wuji thought.
What followed went relatively smoothly, even though Zhao Wuji located the wrong acupoints.
Toward the end, however, Tang San realized something was wrong. His consciousness began to blur and grow muddled, and his memories became hazy.
This is bad, Tang San thought. He had intended to fool Zhao Wuji into leaving with his superb acting, never imagining that Zhao Wuji would stumble onto a genuine new method of erasing memories.
Tang San tried to resist, only to receive an even fiercer barrage of Soul Power from Zhao Wuji.
In the end, Tang San's consciousness dissolved into confusion amid his fury, and his eyes truly turned vacant and witless.
The eighth step now, Zhao Wuji thought.
He carried out the procedure while checking the book.
The twentieth step. The last one. Keep going! Zhao Wuji encouraged himself silently.
He meticulously followed the instructions in the book.
At last, the procedure was complete, and Zhao Wuji let out a long sigh of relief.
He glanced around. The signs of a struggle were not particularly severe, but should he clean up this latrine pit? Zhao Wuji hesitated.
Forget it. I'll leave it like this.
Zhao Wuji pushed open the bathroom door, and every hair on his body stood on end. Faced with Flaide's hawklike gaze, he had no idea what to say.
After several seconds of silence, Flaide spoke first. "Explain."
Zhao Wuji removed the cloth from his face, his shoulders sagging helplessly, and recounted every detail of how Tang San had eaten shit in the Star Dou Great Forest.
"You're afraid Tang San will go to Tang Hao," Flaide said.
Zhao Wuji nodded dejectedly. "Dean, what would you have done?"
"Zhao Wuji, how many years have we known each other?"
"Over twenty, I think. I can't remember exactly," Zhao Wuji said thoughtfully.
"Over twenty years. Time really flies. Tang San truly can't remember anything now?" Flaide patted Zhao Wuji's shoulder.
"I followed every instruction in the book. He definitely can't remember." Zhao Wuji stepped back to give Flaide a clear view.
Blue light flickered in Zhao Wuji's eyes as he studied Tang San and nodded. "Have you thought of an explanation?"
"We'll say he fell while using the toilet. Insist that he fell and knocked himself stupid!" Zhao Wuji gave the explanation he had prepared.
Flaide chuckled. "That works."
"Come on. We don't need to worry about this place." Flaide put an arm around Zhao Wuji's shoulders and led him outside.
At that moment, Tang San's fingers twitched as he slumped in the latrine pit. Neither of them noticed the tiny movement.
"Zhao Wuji, what made you think of covering your face?" Vlad asked curiously.
"So nobody would recognize me."
"Then why didn't you change your clothes?" Flaide asked with a smile.
Zhao Wuji finally realized it. "No wonder he recognized me at a glance."
"Hahaha!"
