"All right, let's get out too." Cao De stood and stepped out of the carriage.
Star Luo City was nowhere near as lively as the other cities. Only a handful of roadside stalls remained, and just a few scattered shops still had their lights on.
"Fuck you! Pay up!!"
An explosive shout rang through the deserted street, sounding especially jarring.
"Let's go take a look."
Cao De led Shui Bing'er toward the source of the voice.
The shout had come from a restaurant. By the time Cao De and Shui Bing'er arrived, a crowd had already gathered.
Cao De immediately spotted Shui Yue'er and Huo Wu among the crowd, watching with rapt interest.
"What happened?" Cao De stepped forward and patted Huo Wu's shoulder.
Huo Wu turned around, her face alight with the excitement of watching a juicy spectacle. "Master, you're just in time. That scruffy uncle finished eating and refused to pay. He said he found a sock in his bowl and insisted they compensate him!"
Listening to Huo Wu's explanation, Cao De looked into the middle of the crowd and saw a scruffy middle-aged man holding a sock.
The man's back looked familiar to Cao De. A coarse hemp coat, canvas shoes, and one foot without a sock?
Wasn't that Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang?!
Yu Xiaogang pointed at the owner's nose. "Look! I found this in your bowl while eating. Compensate me right now!"
"Don't fucking make me laugh. You can't afford your meal, so you're trying to scam me! Got a death wish?!!"
The owner glared at the scruffy man, placed a hand on Yu Xiaogang's shoulder, and applied a little pressure.
Yu Xiaogang was somewhat frightened, but the pain between his buttocks made one thing abundantly clear: he had to pull this scam off.
Ever since Bibi Dong had sent him flying with a slap and that idiot Luo Sanpao had pushed a rock into his path, his rear had been so badly injured that even walking was a problem.
He had consulted plenty of doctors, who told him there was a master gynecologist in the Star Luo Empire who was particularly good at treating injuries like his.
So he had come, only to discover that the price was far too high.
He had started swindling, cheating, and stealing to scrape together his treatment fees. Tonight would be the final payout.
No matter what, Yu Xiaogang would not give up.
Yu Xiaogang's tone turned icy. "If you refuse to compensate me, I'll report you to Spirit Hall. Prepare to face punishment!"
Yu Xiaogang issued his threat. It was his usual trick, and it had worked every time before. Today, however, he had clearly run into a tough opponent.
"I'm gonna tell Shpirit Hall!" The owner bared his teeth and shook his head as he mimicked him, his tone dripping with mockery.
Seeing the owner imitate his expression and mannerisms, the onlookers burst out laughing.
"Master, hahahaha! This owner is hilarious!" Huo Wu clung to Cao De's arm, rocking back and forth with laughter.
Beside them, the sisters Shui Bing'er and Shui Yue'er covered their mouths and giggled nonstop.
"Just you wait! Prepare to face Spirit Hall's wrath!" Yu Xiaogang roared, turning to leave.
The owner grabbed Yu Xiaogang's shoulder and shoved him hard back onto the stool.
On that stool sat a bundle Yu Xiaogang had put there while eating. Inside were some chopsticks he had stolen.
Cao De sent out a pulse of Soul Power, and the chopsticks inside the bundle instantly stood upright.
Yu Xiaogang was shoved straight down onto them.
"You. Want. To. Dine. And. Dash!!" The owner's voice was frigid. With every word, he slapped Yu Xiaogang's shoulder hard, delivering an unmistakable warning.
Yu Xiaogang's face had turned the color of pig liver. He braced both hands against the sides of the stool, desperate to stand and free himself from the foreign objects lodged in his rear.
"I wouldn't dare let you leave. You might report me to Spirit Hall."
Mocking him, the owner shoved Yu Xiaogang back onto the stool.
"Ugh... ngh..." Yu Xiaogang let out a low, hoarse groan, then pitched forward and dropped straight to his knees.
"Brother, I was wrong! I was trying to dine and dash! I was scamming you! Please let me go!"
Yu Xiaogang's voice trembled, unmistakably thick with tears.
"Hold on. Why are my chopsticks sticking out of your pants?"
When Yu Xiaogang knelt, his backside stuck high into the air, making the short lengths of chopsticks protruding from his pants painfully obvious.
Curious, the owner reached out to pull them free.
"Don't!!" Yu Xiaogang screamed himself hoarse, leaning sideways on his knees.
"You say don't, and I'm supposed to listen? What about my dignity?" The owner snorted, then swiftly snatched back the chopsticks that belonged to him.
Psssh!
A thin jet of blood spurted out in the direction the chopsticks had been pulled.
"Oh..."
Yu Xiaogang's voice was miserably wrenching, and two trails of clear tears slowly flowed from the corners of his eyes.
Why did he have to suffer such torment? He only wanted to scam a little money. What had he done wrong?!
"Fuck!" The sight startled the owner too. He had thought it was just a broken bit of chopstick, never imagining it had vanished somewhere deep beyond the clouds.
"Holy shit!" the owner exclaimed again, immediately covering his mouth and nose.
But the pungent stench still burrowed into his nostrils.
The onlookers smelled it too and hurried outside.
"What's that smell? It reeks!" Huo Wu covered her nose with one hand while constantly fanning the air in front of Cao De's face with the other.
Cao De took Shui Bing'er and Huo Wu by the hands and hurried outside.
Shui Yue'er looked around, then pumped her short little legs and quickly followed.
"Fuck! You're still leaking! Still leaking! Ugh! Can't you hold it in?!"
The owner's roar erupted from the restaurant!
"Keep this up, and I'll plug you back up!!"
The owner roared, followed by Yu Xiaogang's agonized cry. "Oh... no..."
"Fuck, why won't it stop?" came another roar from the owner. "A couple more should plug it right up!"
"Don't, don't! Do you know who I am? I'm Grandmaster! I... oh... ohohohoh."
Then came Yu Xiaogang's screams!!!
"Master, what's happening to him?" Huo Wu sounded a little frightened as she listened to those heart-rending screams.
"He probably still refuses to pay, so the owner's teaching him a lesson," Cao De lied offhandedly.
"Master, where are we going now?" Shui Bing'er asked.
"The Spirit Hall Branch," Cao De told the two girls.
Then he felt something was missing. Where was that little girl, Shui Yue'er??
Cao De asked Huo Wu, "Where's Shui Yue'er?"
Huo Wu looked around but saw no sign of Shui Yue'er either. "She was here just a moment ago. Where did she go?"
"Yue'er isn't in trouble, is she?" Shui Bing'er's face filled with anxiety. She gripped Cao De's hand, her voice trembling.
"She's probably still in the restaurant. Let's go back and ask!" Cao De stroked Shui Bing'er's head to comfort her.
The three hurried back to the restaurant. There were few onlookers left now, and a quick glance revealed no trace of Shui Yue'er.
Cao De grabbed a middle-aged man and asked urgently, "Have you seen a little girl? Small, with aqua-blue hair?"
The middle-aged man's eyes darted away, and he hastily waved his hands. "I didn't see her. Ask someone else."
Cao De could tell at a glance that he was lying. He seized the man by the throat and lifted him straight off the ground. "Talk!"
A crushing sense of suffocation engulfed the middle-aged man, his pounding heart warning him of approaching death.
"I'll talk! I'll talk!" the middle-aged man rasped, clawing at Cao De's fingers.
Cao De loosened his grip slightly. The middle-aged man's feet returned to the ground, and he gulped down air.
"Talk!" Cao De said coldly.
Fear covered the middle-aged man's face as he hurriedly said, "Salas from Spirit Hall! He took that little girl!"
"Where did he take her?"
The middle-aged man pointed at a nearby hotel. "There! He went there!"
Cao De flung the man aside.
"Shadow!"
Space twisted, and Shadow appeared before Cao De, kneeling on one knee.
"Find him! Leave him barely breathing!" Cao De ordered coldly.
"As you command." Space twisted, and Shadow's figure vanished.
Cao De followed closely with the two girls, rushing toward the hotel!
