Eren's eyes snapped open to a white ceiling. One eye was covered in bandages, and his long hair lay across the hospital bed.
Eren's sudden movement startled Falco beside him.
"Sir?" Falco called from his side.
Eren glanced indifferently at Falco. The boy before him matched the one in his memories.
"Kruger," Eren said flatly.
Hearing this, Falco hurriedly said, "Falco! Mr. Kruger, my name is Falco."
"Mr. Kruger, wait here. I'll go get a doctor!"
Eren studied Falco, then watched him leave.
Earlier, he had stolen a Marleyan uniform and put it on.
Then, following his memories, he had gouged out his eye and severed his right leg, forcibly suppressing his survival instincts and filling his mind with the looming sense of death. His Titan regeneration had ceased as a result, and the overwhelming pain had caused Eren to pass out.
But just as in his memories, the boy named Falco had saved him.
Eren surveyed his surroundings. It seemed to be a hospital room, with clean white sheets. He was wearing a hospital gown, and through the window, he could see a street and the buildings across from it.
Before long, a nurse entered the room and gave Eren a thorough examination. This was a military hospital, but one dedicated to treating Eldia soldiers, and there were few doctors.
After completing her examination and finding nothing seriously wrong, the nurse said, "You're lucky to be alive. Still, surviving is what matters. Not many Eldia soldiers make it back from the front lines alive."
"Your uniform has been sent to be washed. Your wounds are fine for now. You should get some more sunlight. If they get worse, we don't have enough doctors here to operate on you."
