Chen Si expanded Eldia’s influence while trying to control Floch and confront threats from abroad. After the Mid-East powers declared war, Eldia and its allies defeated them, but a bombing and Drus’s massive invasion brought the conflict back to Paradis Island and left Chen Si facing a hidden tunnel network.

• Chen Si granted Rina Sakurai two cities for a second Eldian nation, while the Oriental Clan plotted to seize Paradis Island’s iceburst stone and Floch’s rule devastated Marley.
• After Marley fell and was partitioned, Chen Si confronted Floch, appointed Marlowe governor, and placed Gal in command of the navy despite Gal’s brutal suppression of resistance.
• Chen Si rescued villagers during a volcanic eruption, while Historia challenged his plans to send troops to Marley and Mikasa promised to fight beside him.
• In June 856, five nations declared war on Eldia and the Aima Republic, and Chen Si destroyed much of the Mid-East fleet before Gal captured more than thirty battleships.
• Eldia and Drus defeated the Mid-East Allied Nations, but Chen Si’s intervention at Kolden deepened tensions with Drus as both powers conquered the remaining enemy states.
• After the Drus embassy was bombed and Hannes’s unit fired on Drus forces, Chen Si disarmed and detained the First Eldia Regiment, while Rina reunited with Zoe, Tailor, and Moriarty.
• Drus invaded on six fronts with six million troops, and Chen Si annihilated its forces in Inledi before discovering that survivors were using underground tunnels.

Chen Si lost Historia, his command, and eventually his Titan Power while hunting the agents behind Hange’s abduction and trying to protect those he loved. As Erwin took control of the Survey Corps and the Soviet Union declared war on Paradis Island, the island braced for an approaching fleet.

• Drus’s feint left Eldia with only Marley, and Historia sought an armistice, but Chen Si refused to end the war and she removed him as marshal and broke off their engagement.
• After Drus and the Soviet Union advanced, Eldia signed an armistice, Historia toured southern Marley, and Eren was sentenced to life imprisonment after admitting he raped Sakurai Rina.
• Chen Si pursued the agents who abducted Hange, while Gal purged officers and redirected the Eldian fleet toward Paradis Island.
• Mogwin freed Hange and detonated the explosives, and Chen Si shielded her and the others from the blast.
• Zoe, revealed as the Codename Agent Dusk, killed Shadow, and Chen Si healed her and confessed that he loved her, and Zoe then split the laws of death with him and died, leaving him without his Thunderclap Body.
• Chen Si stayed in Marley as a deterrent, subdued Todd’s uprising, and Erwin replaced him as Imperial Marshal and won approval to choose successors for the Founding Titan and Beast Titan.
• The Soviet Union declared war on Paradis Island as Erwin prepared to move against Eren, and Mikasa spotted approaching warships while the Survey Corps rushed to its defenses.

Caesar’s betrayal and Eren’s declaration unleashed the Rumbling, while Chen Si struggled between protecting those close to him and stopping the catastrophe. The arc left Chen Si and his allies flying toward Eren as the Rumbling devastated the continents and reached Hizuru.

• Gal led Caesar’s fleet in a devastating assault on Paradis, killing Erwin and nearly destroying its defenses before Eren emerged to fight him.
• Chen Si returned to battle, defeated Gal, and helped Kenny sacrifice his life to save Yasuo, as Reiner awoke and Eren’s declaration interrupted their fight.
• Eren announced that he would trample the world beyond Paradis, and the walls crumbled to release the Colossal Titans.
• Chen Si refused at first to oppose Eren, but Yasuo’s plea and the threat to innocent lives made him reconsider as the Yeagerists seized power and targeted their opponents.
• Chen Si learned from Zoe’s letter that she had spared his life, then set out with Mikasa, Yasuo, and Annie to reach Eren and confront the Yeagerists.
• Hange, Armin, Reiner, and the others prepared to pursue Eren, and Chen Si joined them before helping the group reach an island and board a Hizuru reconnaissance aircraft.
• The Rumbling crushed the allied defenses and devastated the continents, while Chen Si’s group flew toward Eren and the Titans approached Hizuru Capital.

Chen Si confronted Eren, gained the power to challenge Grotesque, and sacrificed himself to save the survivors and preserve Paths. Years later, his son Chen Nian learned about his father while the world united and the survivors built new lives.

• Tōjin Yamashinobu realized Kiyomi had chosen the right side too late and killed himself as the Rumbling reached Hizuru, while Chen Si left the plane to confront Eren.
• Chen Si and the others urged Eren to stop, but Eren refused, then revealed that he had manipulated past events to bring about the Rumbling and force Chen Si to kill him.
• As the Titans overwhelmed the survivors, Armin and Zeke found strength in the fallen Survey Corps, and Chen Si comprehended the law of World and cut apart the Founding Titan.
• Chen Si learned that Eren and Grotesque had merged, fought Eren, and searched the timelines for a way to save his friend before merging into the final timeline and choosing to preserve everyone in Paths.
• After Chen Si vanished from the world’s memory, Grotesque took control of Mikasa and transformed the survivors, but Chen Si returned them to normal and opened a rift to draw Grotesque away.
• Mikasa fought Hallucigenia and, after recalling the imagined life she had shared with Chen Si, kissed him and sent him into the rift, and Eren restored everyone’s memories as Chen Si disappeared.
• Historia gave birth to Chen Si’s son and later helped form a World Federation, while ten years later Chen Nian began asking about his father and met a girl who asked whether he missed him.
• Chen Nian traveled with Levi’s family to Chang’an, learned more about Chen Si’s comrades, and saw Yasuo and Philia begin their life together.
