"Guts... yes! That's it-guts!"
"G-guts?"
Sasuke stared blankly at Chinatsu, who was clenching her fists and shouting about "guts." He had absolutely no idea what his sister meant.
What were guts? Chinatsu didn't know either!
But when in doubt, just show some guts!
"There was once a man who had absolutely no talent as a ninja. His son was older than you, but he was still only a Genin... but! He never gave up. Through sheer hard work, he eventually took down Jonin with a single kick each, scaring seven of them into fleeing in every direction. Sasuke, what does it mean to have guts? That's what it means!"
Chinatsu folded her arms and recounted the story of Might Guy's father, Might Duy, without so much as blushing. Of course, she didn't tell Sasuke that Might Duy had died after taking down those Jonin...
Hearing Might Duy's story perked Sasuke right up, and he declared that "guts!" really were amazing.
But Chinatsu actually wanted to point out that "This is youth!" described Might Duy's example far better than "guts."
Just as Sasuke regained his fighting spirit and prepared to resume practicing the Great Fireball Technique, a world-shaking rumble suddenly erupted from his stomach.
Sasuke's face instantly flushed red, and his hands instinctively covered his stomach.
He had gotten up at three in the morning and practiced the Great Fireball Technique until five. If he hadn't been hungry, Chinatsu would have thought he was superhuman.
"Hmm... five is a little early, but since you're hungry, shall we go get something to eat?"
As she spoke, Chinatsu reached out and patted her little brother's head.
Although their clan had been wiped out, the Uchiha Clan had once been a major clan, after all. There was no way they couldn't afford food or enough to eat.
It was just that...
Chinatsu looked down at Sasuke again and saw that his head was lowered, his expression a little awkward.
Sasuke... doesn't want to go out.
That made sense. It had only been a few days since the massacre. If Sasuke went outside, he might have to endure another barrage of gossip.
Of course, the same went for Chinatsu, but she didn't particularly care about gossip. After all, she considered herself the sort of badass who wouldn't hesitate to punch a bully's front teeth out at school.
Thinking back on that incident made Chinatsu strangely excited. She remembered how she had been so immersed in geek culture that she barely stood out in class. As it happened, her class also had a notorious school bully...
Bully A: "So you're the one who's into anime, huh?"
Bully B: "You actually watch this stuff? How childish. That's hilarious."
Bully C: "I stopped watching this lowbrow crap when I was ten."
Bully D: "I..."
Chinatsu: "Rising Dragon Punch!!!"
Chinatsu had lost her temper right then and there, landing a Rising Dragon Punch straight on Bully D's chin before showing off the eight-pack abs she had diligently trained to cosplay a certain anime character.
Chinatsu: "Don't fucking look down on anime, you bastards!!!"
Then Chinatsu unleashed a combo of Rasengan + Chidori + Rising Dragon Punch + Kamehameha and other ultra-anime moves on the bullies, knocking out all their front teeth.
And so Chinatsu became the bully of bullies, the school's true "top star"...
Returning from her memories to reality, Chinatsu looked once more at Sasuke, whose head was still lowered.
"If you don't want to go out, Sasuke, then we won't."
"You're going to cook yourself, Sis? That's great! I haven't had your cooking in ages!" Hearing Chinatsu's words, Sasuke immediately broke into a delighted smile.
In Sasuke's memories, Chinatsu was the "perfect big sister," a proper lady of the Uchiha Clan. Rather than her ninja skills, what people praised most was her... feminine charm!
Gentle, kind, beautiful, elegant, attentive...
Those had all once been Chinatsu's defining traits.
Yes, once...
But the moment Chinatsu heard the word "cook," her brain crashed, leaving her mind utterly blank.
Cook? As a former shut-in, how would she know how to cook anything?
Wait, didn't I inherit those memories?
Chinatsu hurriedly closed her eyes and searched the fragments of her memories. Finally, after tireless effort, she managed to dig up a few scraps related to cooking.
"All right, leave it to me!"
Chinatsu opened her eyes and patted Sasuke's shoulder, then walked toward a kitchen inside the Uchiha Residence, step by solemn step, as though she were marching onto a battlefield.
This was Chinatsu's first venture into the realm of the kitchen. That was no exaggeration; she had only her extreme shut-in lifestyle in her previous life to blame.
Relying on her fragmented memories, Chinatsu found an iron pan in the kitchen, then some eggs. Then... she froze.
"What should I make? Fried eggs? How do you fry eggs?" Chinatsu murmured, asking herself several soul-searching questions.
Chinatsu took a deep breath and tried once again to remember how "she" had cooked.
Fried eggs... fried eggs... fried eggs...
Found it!
Chinatsu's eyes snapped open. Holding an egg in one hand, she crushed it with a crack, letting its contents slide into the pan.
There's shell in it... and the yolk isn't even right in the center!
A huge vein bulged on Chinatsu's forehead. Although she had never set foot in a kitchen before, the ridiculous thing was that she had a severe obsession with getting things just right.
Again!
Crack!
Again!
Crack!
Again!
"Fuck, I refuse to believe I can't do this."
Chinatsu closed her eyes, opened her mouth, and drew in a deep breath. Her mind entered a state of absolute concentration. When she opened her eyes, a pair of three-tomoe Sharingan appeared in them.
The Sharingan was the Uchiha Clan's kekkei genkai. In its normal state, it could see through other people's moves, hypnotize them, and enhance dynamic vision, among other abilities. The more advanced Mangekyō Sharingan could even grant its wielder two special powers that varied from person to person.
Every ninja village wanted to get its hands on this kekkei genkai, and ordinary ninja could only lament that they couldn't compete with such innate talent. Yet Chinatsu was currently using it to... fry eggs!
With her three-tomoe Sharingan activated, Chinatsu felt the world around her change. It wasn't simply that she could see more clearly. It felt... as though time around her had slowed down.
Good. Now use this power to... fry! An! Egg!
Chinatsu stared intently at the egg in her hand, then gently cracked it open.
Good! No shell!
Good! The yolk's in the center!
Perfect!
Chinatsu nodded to herself in satisfaction, completely unaware that this absurd little operation alone had taken her half an hour.
The starving Sasuke lay slumped over the dining table, his stomach rumbling like thunder.
"Sis... you're taking so long..."
