Background / History

Uchiha exodus and apparent death

Before becoming a housewife after marrying Fugaku Uchiha, Mikoto was a jonin-level kunoichi. Though years away from training had reduced her strength, she remained stronger than a typical chūnin and could contend with a jōnin for a time. 20

During the Uchiha clan's flight from Konoha, she kept Sasuke close as Root attacked the clan. Root exploited her restraint in protecting him, targeting Sasuke directly. Mikoto used her body to block an attack meant for her son and was left mortally wounded. Before losing consciousness, she entrusted Sasuke to Itachi. 21

Revival and life beside Naruto

Naruto recovered Mikoto's presumed corpse from an Uchiha scroll and detected an extremely faint heartbeat. She healed Mikoto's wounds with Nine-Tails chakra and revived her using her own blood. 23 27

Mikoto learned that Fugaku, Itachi, and Sasuke had survived but believed her dead. Unable to immediately return to them, she chose to remain with Naruto out of gratitude and a desire to care for the young rogue ninja. 27 47

Fugaku's final gift and Uba Village

Mikoto reunited with Fugaku shortly before his death. He transferred the pupil power of his right Mangekyō Sharingan into her eyes as a final act of love, resulting in her permanently activated, mutated Sharingan. 78

Upon hearing that Uba Village was under siege for the Sharingan, Mikoto immediately returned to Crow Mountain and fought Konoha, Iwagakure, and Sunagakure forces.
