Five elite Uchiha: Ten-Tails [Void] jinchūriki 173 Natsume, Nagasawa, Rimoku, Ryunen, and Roy become five of nine recipients of Void’s power, gaining Tailed Beast Transformation.
Kazama: Evolution of his own eyes into Rinnegan 260 His tomoe turn gold and rings emerge while he prepares to challenge the will of another world.

Background / History

Military service and marginalization

The Uchiha are one of Konoha’s founding clans. Kazama credits them with single-handedly pushing back Kirigakure during the Third Shinobi World War, while emphasizing that their village responsibilities centered on the Military Police Force rather than control of Konoha’s industries 14 42.

After the Nine-Tails incident, the clan was relocated to Konoha’s outskirts. By Year 55, its members faced suppression from the high command and hostility from ordinary villagers. Relations with other shinobi clans were also poor, with longstanding historical grievances separating them 1 9.

Kazama’s takeover and the coup

Fugaku attempted to use Itachi’s appointment as an ANBU squad captain to reassure the clan and discourage coup discussions. Conservative members hoped Itachi could improve their situation, while radicals rejected further concessions 1 2.

Kazama seized control of the clan meeting with Tenshō, turning conservative elders against Fugaku. Threats against Mikoto and Sasuke forced Fugaku to surrender the patriarch’s position. Kazama then demanded that he participate in killing Hiruzen Sarutobi and Konoha’s higher-ups 3.

During the uprising, Uchiha shinobi fought ANBU and Root while Kazama publicly exposed the planned extermination. Itachi defended Hiruzen and admitted that he had agreed to execute the radicals in exchange for promised protection for the remaining clan members. Fugaku rejected that bargain 7 9 10 11.

The coup ended with Hiruzen, Danzō, Koharu, Homura, and Itachi dead. Fugaku publicly acknowledged Kazama as patriarch, and Kazama ordered all clan members—including those without Sharingan—to clear the battlefield and restore damaged buildings 19 20.

Defense of Konoha

The Uchiha became a decisive force in the wars following Kazama’s rise to Hokage. Fugaku and Kazama’s four personal guards moved between battlefields after their Susanoo overwhelmed an attacking force 28 53.

Their victories changed public opinion. Villagers praised the Uchiha for defending Konoha and capturing enemy jinchūriki. Fugaku also proposed spreading a false report that the clan could no longer fight because of Sharingan overuse, intending to lure Kumogakure into a devastating counterattack 67.

Black Zetsu’s interference

Black Zetsu manipulated Fugaku by supplying yin power that genuinely healed damage from Mangekyō use. This convinced Fugaku that Zetsu was a manifestation of his own consciousness, while the stone tablet at Naka Shrine reinforced his belief that he was following the correct path 68.

Nagasawa and the four personal guards later captured five Black Zetsu clones and presented them to Kazama. Kazama instructed them to follow Zetsu’s directions while leaving Fugaku to him. Fugaku subsequently left preparations for the Infinite Tsukuyomi in a scroll before departing for senjutsu training 71 88.

After learning that he had been deceived, Fugaku continued training rather than withdrawing from clan affairs 161.

The next generation

When Kazama returned from his travels through other worlds, his children were already Konoha shinobi. Nagasawa, Natsume, Roy, and Rimoku reported that they had returned to the Shinobi World nine years earlier 320 321.

Kazama authorized a four-person squad led by Yo to investigate groups attacking shinobi. The younger generation had inherited his independence without growing up under the same pressures that shaped his extreme temperament 321 322.

Kazama later intervened when Yo’s group faced shinobi from other villages. Akaba protected his companions with Susanoo and Flying Thunder God, and Kazama brought the group back toward Konoha 335.

Culture and Clan Practices

Family attachment strongly influences the Uchiha. Fugaku’s efforts to protect his sons demonstrate the power of those bonds, while Black Zetsu identifies friendship, family, and romantic love as recurring influences on individual members 8 71.

Strength carries more authority than age. Kazama’s older guards openly admire him, and the chance to awaken the Mangekyō is treated as an opportunity they cannot afford to refuse 47 48.

  • Mangekyō secrecy: The awakening method was traditionally held by the patriarch. Its connection to losing loved ones was concealed to prevent members from killing one another in pursuit of power 48.
  • Protection of Sharingan: Theft of a clan member’s eyes is treated as an unending blood feud. Kazama’s response to Nagasawa’s stolen eyes follows this practice 35.
  • Internal discipline: Fugaku demands that Itachi seal his chakra and submit to clan judgment rather than continue defending Konoha’s leadership 12.
  • Changing views on awakening: Sasuke’s development leads Kazama to emphasize that the Sharingan reflects the heart and does not require hatred alone to evolve 164.

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan

The clan’s signature dōjutsu combines visual insight with genjutsu.

  • Dynamic vision and close combat: Uchiha fighters exploit their perception to overwhelm ANBU and Root in taijutsu exchanges 13.
  • Movement analysis: Kazama records and breaks down Hyūga techniques while observing a sparring session 96.
  • Genjutsu contests: Kazama explains that differences in pupillary power determine whether an opponent’s illusion can control another Uchiha 19.
  • Transplant limitation: Sharingan placed in an incompatible body impose substantial chakra consumption 35.

Mangekyō Sharingan and Susanoo

Advanced users gain individual dōjutsu, powerful combat manifestations, and—in documented cases—spirit weapons.

  • Individual abilities: Kazama’s Tenshō controls an illusion space; Ryunen combines genjutsu-based spatial attacks with technique enhancement 1 50.
  • Attack and control: Ryunen uses genjutsu to interrupt the Fourth Raikage before attacking through Susanoo 161.
  • Tailed-beast control: Kazama subdues Matatabi with Tenshō. Obito is also described as capable of controlling Isobu and the Fourth Mizukage 55.
  • Usage strain: Fugaku previously damaged his eyes through heavy use. Kazama’s Body of Indra prevents blindness, but not eye fatigue 12 19.
  • Inherited access in the younger generation: Akaba possesses Mangekyō Sharingan, Susanoo, and the Blast Destruction spirit weapon 331.

Elemental Techniques and Taijutsu

  • Fire and Lightning Release: Both are identified among the clan’s best-known combat specialties 13.
  • Uchiha-style taijutsu: Appears among Kazama’s established skills before the coup 1.
  • Technique development: Sasuke combines Kazama’s Flash of Lightning with Chidori Stream to create his own ninjutsu 106.

Senjutsu and Chakra Countermeasures

  • Senjutsu enhancement: Dragon Cave chakra strengthens Natsume and Rimoku’s pupillary power 155.
  • Chakra-eroding poison: Ryunen develops a toxin that attacks chakra rather than the body. Anyone absorbing his chakra is also poisoned 161.
  • Countermeasure limit: Ryunen’s poison can be stopped by precisely isolating and discarding the contaminated chakra 161.

Ten-Tails Power

  • Kazama’s fusion: Moryo’s integration transforms his pupillary power and grants new dōjutsu 129.
  • Shared jinchūriki power: Five elite Uchiha receive power from Ten-Tails [Void] alongside four non-Uchiha companions 173.
  • Tailed Beast Transformation: The nine recipients gain access to this transformation after Void accepts Kazama’s request 173.

Locations and Items

  • Uchiha Clan Compound — Contains Kazama’s residence and training grounds; also serves as a training location for Sasuke, Naruto, and Gaara 47 72 99 155.
  • Naka Shrine stone tablet — Its prophecy helps convince Fugaku to trust Black Zetsu’s guidance 68.
  • Nether Soul — Nagasawa’s black lightning spirit blade; his True Ten Shadows manifestations each wield a copy 35.
  • Time-Piercing Sword / Time-Piercing Annihilation Sword — Kazama’s spiritual weapon capable of attacks across space and time 1 19.
  • Totsuka Blade — Used by Itachi and later wielded by Kazama after merging with Itachi’s Mangekyō Sharingan 19 69.
  • Blast Destruction — Blue-green katana acquired by Akaba when he first used Susanoo after awakening his Mangekyō 331.

Relationships

  • Konoha — Founding village and home; the relationship shifts from discrimination and a planned extermination to Uchiha leadership and renewed public support 1 20 42 67.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi and Konoha’s former high command — Adversaries responsible for suppression and the extermination plan; eliminated during the coup 9 20.
  • ANBU and Root — Fight the clan during the uprising. Root also previously pursued Kazama through assassination attempts 8 11 13.
  • Hyūga Clan — Its elders initially resist Kazama’s post-coup summons, although Hiashi chooses to attend 21.
  • Senju Clan — Fellow founding clan. Senju members support Kazama’s effort to reorganize their clan and bring Tsunade back to Konoha 42.
  • Tsunade — Trusts the Uchiha elite because of their wartime performance and ties to Kazama 67.
  • Black Zetsu — Attempts to manipulate clan members; five of his clones are captured by Nagasawa and the personal guards 68 71.
  • Orochimaru — Initially covets Uchiha bodies, later guides the senjutsu expedition and renews his interest in studying the clan’s strength 38 89 161.
  • Kumogakure and Iwagakure — Wartime opponents who later participate in joint meetings and combat assessments with the Uchiha 61 67 159 161.
