At that, Huiqi paused for a second and gave Kijima a strange look, unsure what he was trying to imply.
"It's all right."
"I knew you wouldn't be satisfied with merely being a director... Now there's a better option, something beyond power and money, something no one else can attain."
"Oh? What is it? Can you give it to me?" Huiqi raised his eyebrows, uncertainty in his voice.
"Of course. If I can offer it, I can deliver it. I can give you even greater power, too, as long as you keep standing by my side."
"Let's hear it. Give me a reason to be tempted."
Seeing Huiqi respond so eagerly, Kijima's lips curled upward, and he began his pitch.
"A traitor once emerged from the Washuu Family. We kept hunting him, but eventually, he underwent some kind of change... A change that could increase a person's strength and lifespan."
"That man was called the One-Eyed King. Now all we need to do is capture the new One-Eyed King... and we can obtain greater strength and longer lives. But the main family won't stand idly by. They'll get in our way, so when the time comes..."
"Fine, as long as you can deliver."
"Excellent. I knew you were a smart man. Then we'll be the kings of a new world, ruling it together."
A shrewd gleam flashed through Kijima's eyes. He knew Huiqi had taken the bait.
"However, this won't be easy. The One-Eyed King's whereabouts are difficult to pin down, and the main family's influence can't be underestimated. We need to devise a flawless plan."
Huiqi frowned slightly at that. He understood the difficulties involved.
"I already have a few ideas..." Kijima said softly.
As Huiqi listened, he made his own calculations.
