"We'll consider your proposal." The irritation in Ito's eyes had faded, though his gaze was still far from friendly.
"No problem. Something like this does need careful consideration." Louis nodded and stood up. He had achieved his goal, so there was no need to keep talking.
Louis had originally planned to use threats and incentives to force them to compromise and make him the leader of Ward 6, but the information he had just received suggested that approach would not work.
First, although Ward 6 currently had no leader, it was still fairly united internally. If he handled things badly, they might turn completely hostile toward him.
Second, although the other two outside factions did pose a threat to Ward 6, it was not an immediate one. Most of the ghouls in Ward 6 were still living stable lives.
Under those circumstances, even threatening to join forces with the other two factions to force Ward 6 into submission probably would not carry much weight, would it?
"Banjō, go with Fukai and find a suitable place to stay," Louis instructed after leaving the bar. "I'm going to look around nearby and get familiar with the terrain."
Ward 18 and Ward 6 were too far apart for convenient travel back and forth, so he might as well have Banjō find a place here.
After sending Banjō off, Louis summoned the system and opened the map, one of its few available functions.
