The blood-red rinkaku deflected Kōki Shinohara's massive blade, and Eyepatch hauled Ayato Kirishima back, his brows tightly furrowed.
"Hey, calm down..." Eyepatch frowned in confusion. He had already saved Ayato Kirishima from Kōki Shinohara's blade more than once.
Although Ayato Kirishima usually fought fiercely, he had never attacked as mindlessly as he did today, holding nothing back and leaving himself no way out.
"Get lost!" Ayato Kirishima shoved Kaneki aside, his eyes bloodshot. The ukaku behind him erupted as though blazing with fire as he raced across the battlefield. In terms of speed alone, he was already the fastest of the three.
But his opponent was Special-Class Shinohara, one of the strongest Ghoul Investigators. With his wealth of experience and his hard Quinque armor protecting him, ending the fight through speed alone was all but impossible.
"You're pretty good..." Kōki Shinohara merely frowned slightly at Ayato Kirishima's attacks. Drawing on his past experience, he focused on defense against the ukaku ghoul's relentless bombardment, waiting to counter.
He wondered where this unknown ghoul had come from and why he had shown such hostility toward him the moment they met.
But he had no intention of asking. Eyepatch was still watching hungrily from the sidelines, so he had to eliminate this seemingly reckless ghoul as quickly as possible.
Before anyone noticed, a veil of swirling snow had covered the area, obscuring their vision.
Kōki Shinohara easily blocked the blood-red crystals flying at him head-on with his massive blade. Almost simultaneously, however, a slash formed from a blood-red ukaku swept down from the side, aimed straight at his head, which [Arata] did not protect.
Kōki Shinohara remained unruffled. He drew back his sword-wielding right hand to shield his head, and the gleaming [Arata] covering his arm only fueled Ayato Kirishima's rage.
