Aogiri Tree sent Ayato Kirishima, Kaneki, and Naki to Ward 7 to pursue information about Kanou Akihiro, while the CCG investigated a report linking Kanou to Nanao Yasuhisa. Kōki Shinohara decided to investigate in person.

• Naki told Ayato Kirishima and Kaneki that Aogiri Tree had learned about Kanou Akihiro after capturing a head nurse who worked for him.
• Kaneki recalled learning that Kanou was secretly turning humans into ghouls and tightened his grip until his coffee cup cracked.
• Amon told Kōki Shinohara that CCG records showed Nanao Yasuhisa had been killed by a ghoul, but contained no leads or clear account of her death.
• Kōki Shinohara considered the reports on Nanao Yasuhisa, Ice Mask, and a suspected Aogiri Tree relocation, then chose to investigate in person.

Kanou Akihiro chose to stay at his laboratory and bargain with Aogiri Tree, sending Kurona Yasuhisa and Nashiro Yasuhisa to face its executives. When the sisters attacked Tatara, he impaled Kurona and struck Nashiro with his kagune.

• Kanou Akihiro told Louis he would use Aogiri Tree's resources to continue his experiments and produce more Little Blacks and Little Whites.
• Louis faced Shachi, Tatara, and Eto with Kurona Yasuhisa and Nashiro Yasuhisa outside Kanou Laboratory, then let the executives pass to speak with Kanou.

Louis weighed the danger as Aogiri Tree, the CCG, and Kanou’s forces converged on the Underground Laboratory. He left the laboratory corridor to protect his allies and prepared to expose his identity to the CCG if Aogiri tried to take him as an experimental specimen.

• Tatara defeated Kurona Yasuhisa and Nashiro Yasuhisa, but Eto Yoshimura ordered him to spare them because they could be useful fighters.
• Eto mocked the sisters for their devotion to their father, and Tatara pulled his kagune from Kurona before heading to the central laboratory.
• Louis confronted Tatara briefly, then watched Tatara and Shachi smash into the laboratory in search of Kanou Akihiro.
• Louis contacted Banjō and warned him that Kanou might claim him as a live experimental specimen, so he would reveal his identity to the CCG if necessary.

Louis emerged from a passage into an Aogiri Tree laboratory, where he confronted Ken Kaneki before CCG investigators broke in. Juuzou Suzuya attacked Louis from above and cut down two Aogiri members, leaving the battle underway.

• Louis found Ken Kaneki guarding the passage exit with other Aogiri Tree members and asked him about the laboratory and Kanou Akihiro.
• Ken fell silent before CCG investigators blasted through a nearby wall, led by Kōki Shinohara, Kōtarō Amon, Yu Fura, and Shizuri.
• Shinohara identified Louis as Ice Mask, warned his team about the SS-Rank ghouls, and ordered the investigators to take them down dead or alive.
• Juuzou Suzuya attacked Louis with a scythe, but Louis dodged and the blade killed two Aogiri Tree members instead.

Eto taunted Kurona Yasuhisa and Nashiro Yasuhisa about their dead parents, their dependence on Kanou, and their lives as ghouls. As the sisters’ attacks repeatedly missed, her words wore down their defenses and left Kurona covering her ears.

• Eto mocked the sisters’ immature Kagune after Louis left them wounded on the ground.
• Eto provoked Kurona and Nashiro by reminding them of their parents and questioning whether Kanou could replace their lost home.
• The sisters attacked Eto, but she evaded them and continued to taunt them from above.

Louis fought Juuzou Suzuya amid the CCG’s assault on Aogiri Tree, then became the target of an investigator ambush. After Suzuya nearly struck him with a scythe, Louis crystallized his torso to unleash a surge of power, leaving the fight unresolved.

• The CCG deployed RC Suppressant smoke, and Louis warned Ken Kaneki to avoid breathing it while fighting Juuzou Suzuya.
• Juuzou Suzuya kept his distance as Louis gathered extreme cold, and Ghoul Investigators surrounded Louis and fired an RC Suppressant round at him.

• Ayato Kirishima attacked Kōki Shinohara relentlessly, but Shinohara used [Arata] to deflect his strike and knock him dizzy with a punch.

Kaneki lost control while fighting Juuzou Suzuya, then pushed deeper into the laboratory to find Kanou Akihiro and found Eto attacking Louis. Earlier, Eto questioned why Louis had returned after she let him leave.

• Juuzou Suzuya realized Kaneki was targeting [Jason 13] and attacked him with [Jason 13] and [Poison Scorpion 1/56].
• Kaneki’s centipede Kagune burst out, wounded Juuzou Suzuya, and reduced the passage to rubble.
• Kaneki resisted his bloodthirsty instincts and staggered deeper into the laboratory to find Kanou Akihiro.
• Kanou Akihiro told Tatara that Louis was special and an important partner, then began packing documents.
• Eto asked Louis why he had returned after she had let him leave.

Renji Yomo escaped Aogiri Tree with Rize Kamishiro, revealing that Shachi and Louis had helped protect their escape. Eto Yoshimura attacked Louis, but he countered with his crystallizing cold; when she launched another strike, he pushed his crystallization further and prepared to fight.

• Renji Yomo carried Rize Kamishiro through a ventilation passage while Tatara's kagune fell short, and Eto realized she had been outmaneuvered.
• Eto asked Louis whether he would have stopped Renji, then stabbed him in the abdomen with her bandaged hand.

• Kaneki unleashed his centipede kagune and clashed at high speed with Shachi as Kanou ordered his people to pack up and leave.
• Louis blocked Eto's attacks and charged her, intending to trade blows so he could escape without seeking help from the Ghoul Investigators.
• Eto struck Louis from both sides, sent him crashing through a wall, and remarked that relying on uncontrolled power was risky but could help someone overcome a disadvantage.

Louis confronted Eto and the CCG investigators after his unstable crystallization weakened him, then used his expanding ice powers to immobilize the investigators. As he walked toward Kaneki, he warned that the investigators could not defeat him and continued toward his next goal.

• Shinohara arrived with Fura and his squad, ordered RC Suppressant prepared, and called for Juuzou Suzuya while Amon and Akira found Suzuya injured beneath rubble.
• Louis revealed that his crystallized body was unstable and warned Eto that continuing their fight could expose her identity, prompting her to retreat toward Shachi and abandon Kaneki.
• Fura and other investigators surrounded Louis, but he said he had nothing to tell them and started walking toward Kaneki.

Yu Fura tried to speak with Ice Mask, while Amon and Akira learned that Kanou could turn humans into ghouls. As Eto and Tatara retreated with Kanou, Eto revealed that Ice Mask had knowingly worked with him, leaving Kaneki to confront his companion’s apparent complicity.

• Shinohara joined Eyepatch in attacking Ice Mask, but Louis crystallized his organs to withstand their blows and blasted both attackers away with an explosive burst of ice.
• Kaneki swallowed part of Louis’s blood, gaining a surge of power, but Louis snapped off his crystalline arm and sent blood spikes into Kaneki and Shinohara.

Kanou Akihiro and the Aogiri Tree members prepared to flee the laboratory while Ice Mask remained surrounded by Ghoul Investigators. Kurona Yasuhisa brought the dying Nashiro Yasuhisa to Kanou, who declared her beyond recovery and abandoned the sisters, leaving Kurona devastated and alone.

• Eto, Kanou Akihiro, Tatara, and Shachi watched Ice Mask's battle and discussed his injuries as Kanou ordered the laboratory's test subjects released.
• Tatara and the others decided to withdraw as the CCG approached, and Tatara destroyed the laboratory's surveillance equipment.
• Kurona Yasuhisa arrived carrying the unconscious Nashiro Yasuhisa and begged Kanou Akihiro to save her.

Kurona begged the badly injured Louis to save Nashiro, and his blood briefly accelerated Nashiro’s healing enough to save her life. Louis asked the sisters to come with him, and Kurona followed while carrying Nashiro.

• Eto took Roma Hantō’s crystalline arm and severed her own arm, then revealed she had investigated Roma’s history as the Clowns’ founder.
