I started writing "Crossing Over to EVA and Rewriting the Plot" at eight thirty in the morning on June 3, 2023. There were plenty of reasons I wanted to write this book: there were very few Neon Genesis Evangelion fanfics online or on other novel apps, and even those that existed were mostly on hiatus or abandoned. Very few authors stuck with them. Either they changed the setting until it lost its original flavor, or the writing fell short and earned low ratings.
Another reason was that, just like everyone else, I felt regret and sadness over the story, endings, and certain characters in Neon Genesis Evangelion.
I thought, Since other people's stories don't satisfy me, why not write one myself?
And so, last June, the gears of fate began turning for Asuka and the protagonist, Huang Zhetian (and for me and all of you on the other side of the screen, too).
When did I start watching it? Funny story: I said in the comments before that I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion because I heard the song "The Louvre," but I actually remembered that wrong.
I started watching because I saw a console review creator on Bilibili (I'd rather not name them, so take a guess). They talked about which company made the handheld console Asuka held in Rebuild of Evangelion: Thrice Upon a Time, and my curiosity led me to watch the series.
You know what happened after that: I started writing.
I began watching in February 2023, but didn't start writing until June. Between February and June, I searched desperately for Neon Genesis Evangelion fanfics.
Unfortunately, no matter how much I searched, none satisfied me. The good ones had stopped updating (one author's latest chapter was from 2022), and I couldn't get through the bad ones...
