After delivering the survivors to the makeshift airfield, Huang Zhetian dismissed Special Unit X and approached Toji Suzuhara and the others.
Seeing someone who looked like his Boss, Kensuke rubbed his eyes and looked again. "No way! Why does he look so much like Boss?"
Huang Zhetian crouched down and stroked Sakura Suzuhara's head. "This land is no longer fit for humans to live on. You need to board NERV's aircraft and find a new place to settle."
Toji Suzuhara thought everything happening around them had been caused by the Angels. Bewildered, he asked Huang Zhetian, "What exactly is going on? I'm completely lost. Did NERV fail?"
Huang Zhetian pointed at the scarlet earth outside the sealing perimeter and explained, "Rather than NERV failing, it was a personal betrayal. But you're not wrong either. The Angels did cause the situation we're in now. NERV isn't what it used to be. The organization has become someone's private property."
Kensuke stepped forward and nervously asked Huang Zhetian, "Then do you know the Special Unit's pilot? Is he okay?"
Huang Zhetian had been about to leave, but he stopped and looked back at them. "He's still asleep."
With that, he paid no further attention to Toji Suzuhara and the others behind him.
In the original story, Unit-02 had still been missing an arm after being patched up and repaired, but Huang Zhetian's arrival had changed that.
Some of the parts Unit-02 needed had been removed from the previously preserved Unit-03, temporarily repairing its missing limbs.
Asuka and Mari were now searching for survivors throughout Japan and would not be back anytime soon.
Huang Zhetian was responsible for searching all of New Tokyo-3 City, starting from NERV Headquarters.
He also needed to work with Kaji to plan their next steps.
