Smilas slowly sat back. He once firmly believed that the corrupt, bloated, and blame-shifting parliamentary system was destroying the E. U.. Only by taking the supreme power and establishing a real wartime Military Government himself could he unify the industry and military of the entire E. U. and finally defeat Britannia.
He has been preparing for this for many years, and now Military Government and Supreme Military Coordination Authority are finally in his hands.
As a result, he discovered that although the original committee was incompetent, there were still people responsible for handling those pesky contracts for him.
Now, some of those people are dead, some are under investigation, and the remaining ones have gone to Leila·Marukal, preparing to establish a new temporary Legislative Assembly.
To make matters worse, some people have now begun to ask him to submit all the basis for execution of his favorite emergency military orders in the past.
"General."
The conference room door was pushed open, and Laura Budiway walked straight in.
Charlotte, who was following her, was holding a stack of aircraft maintenance documents. Cecilia was urging Royal Isles Consortium to release the equipment through the terminal. Tatenashi Sarashiki seemed much more calm, and was even in the mood to say hello to the guard at the door.
Smilas looked at them and suddenly had the illusion that he was just the principal of a certain Military Academy school.
"Representative Budiway, you'd better tell me that the Joint Mobile Group is ready to go."
"Your final confirmation is still needed. General Andrei's ground forces and my IS squadron must clarify their respective combat authorities. I am responsible for the technical control and on-site tactical dispatch of the special maneuver unit, and General Andrei is responsible for the conventional armored and mechanized forces. The unified combat objectives are determined by the front-line joint command. Your office reserves the authority for inter-regional mobilization and the release of the general reserve force."
"Of course I know this! Do you think I don't even understand basic military organization?"
Laura Lift your chin.
"Since you know, why haven't you signed yet?"
Smilas's temples jumped again. He once wanted to drive this newly appointed representative of the iron-blooded country out of the office, but the problem was that she really had military capabilities that he could not ignore.
"General, I know you don't like young people questioning your decisions directly, but BETA will not reduce the number because I am young, nor will it slow down the charge just because you have a high rank. Instead of continuing to argue about my qualifications, it is better to first confirm how many units we have available to set off."
Smilas endured it again and again.
"So how many direct troops do you have that you can directly command?"
"My IS squadron can be assembled in five minutes to carry out the first round of strike operations. In addition, we have four Seventh Generation special Experimental Knightmare units assisted by Great Han."
"The fourth station has really arrived?"
Charlotte, who had been quiet for a long time, was finally able to interject. "The delivery of all the aircraft was completed yesterday, and Great Han has handed over the most important maintenance information to us."
Cecilia snorted.
"I also asked my father to add new Shield equipment to them. By the way, if your financial department continues to delay payment, I hope you can go to Test Ground in person to experience how fragile a body without a complete defense system is."
Tatenashi Sarashiki smiled and continued, "So now only your signature is left. General, if you wait a little longer, Iberia may directly apply to Great Han to let their railway troops come over to take over the traffic. Your press conference will be more exciting by then."
Smilas closed his eyes, and his temples began to feel tight again.
Each of these girls was younger than the last, and each had a troublesome temperament. However, they were so capable that he couldn't send them away just because they were not qualified enough.
Among them, what puzzled him the most was Laura, a soldier trained with iron blood, a girl with iron blood who valued discipline, strength and victory above all else. Why would he admire Lin Cuo, that oriental Regent, to such an extent?
Smilas opened his eyes and stared at her for several seconds.
"Representative Budiwei, there is something that I still can't figure out. You are an E. U. soldier, you were trained by the E. U., and you led the E. U. troops." He paused, and the confusion in his tone even outweighed the dissatisfaction, "What did that Lin Cuo do that makes every time you mention him sound like you are talking about the idol you most want to surpass?"
"No."
"Then why do you quote his press statements every day?"
Laura's expression suddenly became serious.
"Because he can win."
"Wait! What are you talking about?"
"Great Han's Regent can proactively find new means when resources are insufficient, rebuild power when the command system fails, and change the rules first when the enemy still acts according to the rules. Most importantly, he never automatically gives up a truly valuable goal just because others think something is dishonorable."
Smilas Suddenly felt that this passage sounded very familiar and not very auspicious.
"Do you know what he did at Paris?"
"Know."
"Do you know how many politicians he has used?"
"Know."
"Then you still admire him?!"
"General, what I admire is his ability to win, not his personal credibility."
Smilas opened his mouth. He couldn't think of how to retort for a moment, but Laura had already clenched his fists, and there was a rather dangerous excitement in his eyes.
"And I'll have to challenge him sooner or later."
"Master Regent who challenges Great Han?"
"Of course! I have to compete with him on strategy, tactics, airframe operation, and on-the-spot command. Even if he is Great Han Regent, I am confident that I can defeat him."
Charlotte couldn't help but remind, "Laura, he is Regent, and you said last time that when you see him, you will first ask him to sign your training manual."
"Those are two different things!"
"And you practiced introducing yourself for half an hour last night."
"Charlotte!"
"Didn't you say that you wanted him to admit that you would never lose in a business or personal contest?"
Laura's face suddenly turned red.
"Of course I won't lose! Even if it's a date, I--"
"Okay!" Smilas finally couldn't bear it anymore, "What we are discussing now is Madrid, not your date plan!"
Laura Stand up straight immediately.
"Understood, General, please sign the order."
Smilas felt that he finally found the reason for the failure of this conversation. He should not have argued with a tough girl who took military victory and defeat more seriously than he did, but was completely unreasonable in other matters.
"Let Andrei prepare to set off. All aircraft will be under unified combat zone command. No one is allowed to pursue without permission. Also, Representative Budiwei, I don't care how you plan to challenge that man in the future. At least I hope to get a victorious outcome in this war."
Laura took the order and finally showed a satisfied smile.
"This is sound military judgment, General."
"Get out!"
"Yes!"
As soon as the door closed, Smilas looked at Leila who never left.
"Marukal Prime Minister, I really want to know where you found these people."
Leila's face is not much better than his.
"You should thank them for being willing to come. Charlotte brought the technology that can upgrade the E. U. body. Cecilia won the funds from Royal Isles Consortium. Tatenashi Sarashiki replaced We coordinated Northern Union companies that were unwilling to open standards to each other on a table. As for Laura... I admit, she is indeed a headache sometimes, but you also saw that she is capable."
"Of course I saw it!" Smilas rubbed his forehead, "The problem is, it took me decades to obtain Supreme Military Coordination Authority, and now I have to rely on these young girls to defend E. U.!"
Leila looked at him for a while, and suddenly felt like laughing.
"General, haven't you always advocated ability over qualifications?"
"Of course I stand for it!"
"Then ability is now higher than qualifications."
"This is different from what I imagined!"
"That's how war usually goes."
Smilas stared at her and finally let out a long sigh.
"And those four Seventh Generation machines. Why are Great Han willing to provide them free of charge? I have read the agreement, and this is completely unlike Lin Cuo's style."
Leila The hand that was already reaching for the file stopped, and he crossed his legs and rubbed it a few times.
"Well, anyway, he knows the E. U. needs them now."
At this point, she was not ready to continue this topic with Smilas, so she turned around and left.
