"Skull Gomora."
A gigantic dinosaur-like monster appeared in the city.
Its blood-red horns and eyes, the purple timer on its chest, and the red spikes on its back left no doubt that it was a terrifying enemy-a Belial Fusion Beast.
The enormous monster headed toward the school. Its back spikes glowed red, firing red, lightning-like beams that blew apart the surrounding buildings wherever they swept.
Inside NERV headquarters, Ritsuko urgently ordered the technicians to analyze the monster.
"Its identification pattern isn't blue. It's not an Angel."
"But its energy signature matches the energy source that caused the Ninth Angel to mutate!"
Gendo Ikari and Fuyutsuki felt their hearts tighten at those words.
Humanity probably wouldn't be able to help this time, either.
Nevertheless, Gendo Ikari gave the order. "Prepare for launch. Locate the pilots of Unit-00 and Unit-02 as soon as possible, and bring them here once you've secured their safety."
Hyuga sounded bewildered. "What about Unit-01 and its pilot?!"
"Carry out your orders."
"Yes, sir..."
Fuyutsuki murmured to Gendo Ikari, "Shinji has probably already gone to fight."
"No need to guess. We'll see him soon enough."
Meanwhile, the school had descended into chaos. Shinji asked Misato to evacuate everyone.
"Are you going to fight again?" Misato looked at him worriedly.
This monster looked more dangerous than any they'd faced before.
Shinji didn't answer her question directly.
"Misato, I'm counting on you to look after everyone. Especially Asuka and Rei."
"If we don't go now, this school probably won't survive..." Shin Moroboshi answered for Shinji.
"I'm going!" With that, Shinji charged toward the roof.
Misato clutched the necklace at her chest and offered a prayer for Shinji, then threw herself into evacuating the crowd.
Shinji and Shin Moroboshi pushed against the stream of people and reached the roof.
