Chuan Wenwu reached out and sifted through the broken stones in the square pit, sending them clattering down onto the ground.
It was a remarkably regular square pit. Ignoring the uneven contours of the surrounding rock face, its interior alone consisted of five perfectly flat surfaces.
Producing a result like that in a single strike was beyond anything technique could explain-this was fucking magic!
He looked down at the Pickaxe Shield on his arm and silently griped, Good thing it breaks the rock into rubble instead of moving the excavated stone out as one whole block. Otherwise, it'd be hard to tell whether this was "swords and magic" or "Minecraft"...
He pushed aside a pile of rubble and, as expected, found no sign of any unusual ore.
With a thought, he swapped the Pickaxe Shield back for the Mole Claw Shield, which had the "Mining II" skill. Copying the motion he had used with the Pickaxe Shield, he slammed the claw shield into the square pit he had just dug.
Boom-rumble-rumble!!!
A tremendous crash rang out, accompanied by clouds of flying dust.
"Hoooly shiiit..." Chuan Wenwu said in a trembling voice.
The moment he swung the shield with all his strength, he instinctively sensed something was wrong. But it was too late to stop, so he could only follow through.
Unlike the negligible drain from using the Pickaxe Shield earlier, this strike with the claw shield felt as though a pump were sucking away his stamina. His legs nearly buckled beneath him, almost sending him to his knees-he had nearly exhausted himself.
"What was that noise?!"
"What happened?"
"A monster?!"
The miners were startled by the commotion as well. A Mole Monster had attacked not long ago; with such a huge disturbance this time, what had shown up now?
