The Sapphire Star had already headed down the mountain, carrying Doma trussed up like a pretzel. The Kasugai Crow and the Palico followed her back onto the plains. Only after the woman, cat, and bird had gone far enough did two figures slowly emerge from the shade of the trees atop the mountain, standing at the edge of the steep cliff as they watched the Sapphire Star recede into the distance.
As though they had detected something, several Scoutflies glowing faintly green slipped through gaps in the forest and flew toward the mountaintop.
"There, see? Those are the Scoutflies their New World hunters use. Let those things catch up with you, and you're done for~" One of the figures was Nameless Hunter. He casually produced a small sphere and flicked his wrist, bursting it directly in the Scoutflies' path.
Pfft- A foul stench instantly spread through the air.
The Scoutflies' flight paths immediately went haywire. They buzzed in distress, and within seconds, they had completely lost their bearings. They wheeled around in disarray and fled frantically back the way they had come.
Nameless pinched his nose and fanned hard in front of his face, trying to disperse the nauseating lingering smell. The figure beside him, however, remained motionless, his six inhuman Demon Eyes fixed on the direction in which the Sapphire Star had vanished.
"What's wrong?" Nameless Hunter turned his head and gave him an intrigued look. "Dear elder brother, are you still afraid of Miss Sapphire Star?"
Kokushibo did not get angry at Nameless calling him his elder brother. His hand merely rose unconsciously, his fingertips brushing the hideous scar on his neck.
Kokushibo remained silent. Only after several breaths did he slowly speak. "...Doma has been captured... Are we not rescuing him?"
