The waiter had just brought the dishes to Tang San's table. Their fragrance filled the air, making mouths water.
However, the young man from Canghui Academy suddenly rose and quickened his pace, as though he had some urgent business.
The waiter had been carrying the plates steadily, but the young man came rushing over without so much as a warning and crashed straight into him.
The waiter cried out in surprise. The plate in his hands instantly tipped, and the delicious food was about to come down over Dai Mubai's head.
At that hair's-breadth moment, Tang San spoke calmly. "Don't waste food."
His left hand shot out like lightning and steadied the waiter, while his right accurately caught the plate as it was about to overturn.
With a gentle application of force, he brought Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon into full play. The dish seemed held fast by an invisible force, without even a drop of sauce spilling.
"Hahaha! What a masterful bit of showing off!" With that, Chen Xuanqing casually flicked the chopsticks from his hand. Like an arrow loosed from a bow, they struck the edge of the plate with pinpoint accuracy.
Instantly, the food flew out as though swept up by a gale, splashing squarely into Tang San's face.
"Aah..."
The piping-hot food immediately scalded Tang San, making him scream like a squealing pig. His entire face turned bright red from the heat.
At the sight, Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun blazed with fury. They sprang to their feet and glared fiercely at the people from Canghui Academy, their eyes burning like torches.
The students from Canghui Academy refused to back down either. They also stood and faced off against the group from Shrek Academy.
For a moment, the restaurant's atmosphere bristled with drawn swords and taut bows. A fierce clash could erupt at any instant.
Meanwhile, Chen Xuanqing sat leisurely off to one side. He raised his cup and took a small sip of wine, a teasing smile curling his lips.
Chen Xuanqing cast Tang San a sidelong glance, his eyes full of provocation and mockery.
Seeing this, Xiao Wu teased, "Brother Xuanqing, you're so bad! But now we have a good show to watch."
She blinked, a sly smile appearing on her face.
At her words, Chen Xuanqing chuckled softly. "Then tonight, I'll show you an even naughtier side of me. Will you like that?"
Chen Xuanqing's voice was deep and magnetic, making Xiao Wu's heart involuntarily race.
"Ahem..." Just then, Zhu Zhuqing suddenly coughed and looked away awkwardly.
After spending these past two days with them, she had gradually grown accustomed to the intimacy between Chen Xuanqing and Xiao Wu. Sometimes, she even imagined growing closer to Chen Xuanqing herself.
My teeth hurt like hell.
Inside the restaurant, the clamor churned like boiling water.
Around the two tables occupied by Shrek Academy and Canghui Academy, the other diners rose one after another, afraid this sudden disturbance would sweep them into its wake.
However, most did not choose to leave immediately. Instead, their eyes filled with excitement and anticipation.
Ordinarily, watching a duel between Soul Masters required paying a hefty sum at the Great Soul Arena. Being able to watch one here for free was undoubtedly a rare feast for the eyes for most people.
Moreover, in a place frequented by Soul Masters, witnessing a contest between powerful fighters firsthand was a rare experience in itself.
Canghui Academy's students had already been enraged by Dai Mubai's overbearing attitude, and now they could no longer suppress their fury. They clenched their fists, savage expressions crossing their faces, ready to charge forward at any moment.
However, the middle-aged teacher extended an arm and stopped them.
The Canghui Academy teacher's expression was frighteningly dark. His eyes remained fixed on Dai Mubai, as though trying to see straight through him.
"You brats who don't know how high the heavens are or how deep the earth runs-which academy are you from?"
Light flashed in the double pupils of Dai Mubai's sinister eyes. The middle-aged teacher's anger had not frightened him.
Instead, a powerful urge to vent surged within him.
Chen Xuanqing had just beaten him up, and he was looking for an opportunity to regain some face.
"Trying to sound us out? You're not qualified." Dai Mubai spoke coldly, his voice brimming with provocation and disdain.
The middle-aged teacher's face instantly turned livid, and a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.
"You little brat, your arrogance knows no bounds. Teach them a good lesson!" At his command, Canghui Academy's students immediately charged toward Tang San's table like wild horses breaking free of their reins.
The fight erupted like a raging fire. Dai Mubai lunged forward and drove a fist toward his opponent.
His fist tore through the air with a howl. The merciless punch went straight for his opponent's vital point.
Meanwhile, Tang San darted aside to evade an attack, then used the Spirit Tide Needle, one of the Tang Sect Hidden Weapons.
The tiny hidden weapons traced silver trails through the air, drifting toward the enemies like phantoms. Without a sound, they pierced several students' bodies.
Ma Hongjun relied purely on his bulk to overpower them, turning himself into a shit-stirrer on the battlefield and sending several Canghui Academy students flying.
They slammed into the open ground outside the inn. Dust billowed up, drawing cries of surprise from the nearby diners.
Seeing this, the Canghui Academy teacher's expression changed drastically, and he bellowed in fury, "Unleash your martial souls, you idiots!"
At that moment, however, Chen Xuanqing stood off to one side, a faint smile curling his lips.
He glanced at Tang San and said softly, "They don't have a chance anymore. You've already been hit by hidden weapons. You underestimated your opponents far too much."
Tang San's heart jolted at those words. He had never expected Chen Xuanqing to spot his little maneuver.
Since his rebirth on the Douluo Continent, this was the first time anyone had seen through his hidden weapon technique.
Hearing Chen Xuanqing's words, the middle-aged man also paled in shock and watched Tang San and the others warily.
"Teacher, we have no strength left in our bodies," one Canghui Academy student said, struggling to stand, his face pale.
"It feels like we've been drugged," another student agreed. Their voices revealed both fear and unease.
The middle-aged man's expression darkened. Knowing the situation was bad, he quickly scanned Tang San and the others, trying to determine who had struck in secret.
Seeing this, Dai Mubai's lips curved arrogantly. With his head raised and chest thrust out, he swept his gaze over the people from Canghui Academy and declared in a loud, overbearing voice, "Remember this! From now on, whenever you see anyone from Shrek Academy, you'd better give us a wide berth! Don't think a little strength gives you the right to do whatever you please. Some people aren't the sort you small fry can afford to offend!"
His words brimmed with threats and warnings. Each one struck the hearts of those from Canghui Academy like a heavy hammer.
After delivering his speech, Dai Mubai deliberately gave Chen Xuanqing a pointed look.
However, Chen Xuanqing merely snorted coldly at the sight, disdain and mockery flashing in his eyes.
