Tang San is a Tang Sect disciple who has been reborn on the Douluo Continent. His previous training remains central to his fighting style, particularly his hidden weapons and specialized martial techniques 17 28 31.

His father, Tang Hao, watches over him while concealing his presence near Nuoding City. Tang Hao comes to observe Tang San's enrollment and considers Xiao Wu a potential future hundred-thousand-year soul ring for his son, before Chen Xuanqing takes her away 8.

• At his introduction in Nuoding Academy's Dorm Seven, Tang San is described as a somewhat short, six-year-old boy 7.

Personality

Tang San is observant and technically confident. He quickly assesses a Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent's cultivation age and volunteers to track Chen Xuanqing alone, trusting his special methods despite Zhao Wuji's warnings 23 24. He also supports Shrek Academy's confrontational outlook, declaring that those who do not dare stir up trouble are mediocrities 18.

He shows loyalty to his companions by shielding Oscar, taking over Ma Hongjun's fight against Xiao Wu, and returning to rescue injured teammates 24 27 30. That loyalty does not extend to everyone endangered by his actions: after accidentally triggering a beast tide, he initially leaves Meng Yiran and her grandparents behind and denies responsibility 31.

His pride becomes especially apparent when he must beg for protection. Ashamed of the humiliation, he privately resolves to kill those who witnessed it so that the incident cannot become known. Story Role / Major Arcs

Nuoding Academy Encounter

Tang San arrives as a work-study student and meets Chen Xuanqing outside Dorm Seven. Chen Xuanqing is actually waiting for Xiao Wu and promptly leads her away. Tang San is left with an unexplained feeling that something is missing 7.

Joining Shrek Academy

Years later, Tang San has forgotten his single encounter with Chen Xuanqing and Xiao Wu. Seeing Chen Xuanqing display seven unusually powerful soul rings shocks him enough to question his teacher's theories. After the disturbance at Shrek Academy's entrance ends, he requests admission and is accepted 11 12 13.

Inn Confrontations

Tang San supports a plan to ambush Chen Xuanqing on Dai Mubai's behalf. At the inn, his defense of Dai Mubai's engagement earns him a kick that leaves him unable to breathe properly; Dai Mubai is subsequently knocked onto him 15 16.

During the confrontation with Canghui Academy, Tang San catches a falling plate, only for Chen Xuanqing to redirect its hot contents into his face. He then incapacitates several students with concealed needles. The ensuing fight against Ye Zhiqiu ends with Tang San, Dai Mubai, and Ma Hongjun defeated despite their combined attacks 17 19 20.

Star Dou Great Forest Pursuit

Tang San accompanies the group following Chen Xuanqing into the forest. Zhao Wuji refuses to let him continue the pursuit alone and prioritizes obtaining Oscar's soul ring 23 24.

When Chen Xuanqing confronts them, Tang San learns that Tang Hao's attack on Xiao Wu is a central reason for the hostility. He fights Xiao Wu effectively through Tang Sect techniques, then disappears from the battlefield with Oscar while their companions remain behind 26 28 29.

Beast Tide and Retaliation

Tang San's attempt to lure soul beasts as a rescue distraction triggers a massive beast tide. He and Oscar retrieve their companions but initially abandon those still protecting Meng Yiran. An encounter with the Titan Giant Ape forces them to return and beg for help 30 31.

After the danger passes, Chen Xuanqing demands that Tang San honor his promise to exchange his life for the others. Tang San raises a dagger to his neck but throws it away and retracts the immediate commitment.
