"Ellin, this is the place."
Bennett had brought Ellin to a ruin.
The ruin stood on the coast below the cliffs of Windrise.
Its entrance was extremely well hidden, and seawater could submerge the doors at high tide.
So even if someone really was bored enough to wander around a place like this, they would have a hard time discovering that the moss-covered cliff face was actually the entrance to a ruin.
Ellin marveled at Fischl's skill. As an investigator for the Adventurers' Guild, she certainly knew her stuff.
At the same time, Ellin was brimming with curiosity about the ruin.
Experience suggested that hidden ruins like this had rarely been picked clean by adventurers, so the chances of finding something good inside were high.
Without hesitation, Ellin summoned her immense strength, pushed open the heavy stone doors, and entered the ruin with Bennett.
Ten minutes later.
In the ruin's first chamber, a great heap of monster corpses lay at Ellin's feet.
"Wow! Ellin, you're amazing!"
Bennett stared wide-eyed. He had prepared himself for battle as soon as they entered the ruin.
But the moment Ellin saw the monsters, she charged at them as though she'd been pumped full of adrenaline and slaughtered the lot in no time.
"Hehe, no big deal!"
Ellin flicked her longsword, shaking off the blood, then smiled. "Come on, let's head to the next chamber!"
"Sure thing! On to the next chamber!"
Bennett was delighted too, and lifted his foot to follow Ellin toward the next chamber.
But the instant his foot came down, the stone tile beneath it suddenly sank.
Boom!
With a thunderous crash, a heavy stone slab dropped down, sealing the doorway to the next chamber.
Startled, Bennett looked back, only to discover that the ruin's entrance had closed as well.
