Background / History
Fischl grew up as Amy, the daughter of two Adventurers’ Guild members. Her parents’ demanding work left her spending much of her childhood in the library, where fantasy novels became her main source of companionship. Her increasingly theatrical speech alienated other children, deepening her isolation and attachment to fiction 10.
Her parents initially encouraged her identification with her favorite stories. Her father called her “little Fischl,” praised her as the Prinzessin der Verurteilung, and urged her not to abandon her ideals. On her fourteenth birthday, however, she returned home crying after being mocked and was told that she should outgrow her fantasies. She retreated to the library, where her longing for acceptance manifested as an Electro Vision and Oz 10.
By the time she meets Ellin, Fischl works as a Guild investigator and has reached Adventure Rank 23. Despite her professional experience, she has little experience with ordinary friendship; Ellin becomes the first human friend she brings home for dinner 4 5 10.
Later chapters identify The Ballad of the Prinzessin der Verurteilung as the source of her adopted name and persona. As a young child, she adored its heroine and named herself Fischl in the hope of becoming equally remarkable. Her parents’ concern for her safety also limited her opportunities to go outside, leaving her alone at home with novels when they were away 323 435.
During Ellin’s journey into the past, young Fischl tries to befriend children in Mondstadt by imitating the novel’s heroine. When they demand proof of her supposed ability to pluck stars from the sky, she leads them outside the city but cannot demonstrate it. Their mockery escalates into throwing dirt at her. Ellin secretly intervenes by using Planet Befall to send a meteor into Cider Lake, making Fischl’s declaration appear real and frightening the children away 435 436.
Fischl sees the distant white-haired girl who helped her and believes a god has saved her. Although she eventually becomes unsure whether the incident was real or imagined, the image of gleaming white hair remains deeply ingrained in her memory. This impression later contributes to the admiration and inexplicable urge to approach Ellin at the Adventurers’ Guild, connecting their first meeting to Ellin’s intervention in her childhood 436.
Appearance
Fischl is a blonde, green-eyed girl whose clothing follows a purple-and-black raven motif 4.
- Eyepatch — a prominent part of her appearance. In childhood, she theatrically removes it to “release” the seal on her supposed Eye of Condemnation; the scene establishes its role in her persona, not an actual sealed ocular power 4 436.
- Raven-feather outfit — purple and black, decorated with feathers 4.
- Black stockings — worn with her usual outfit 4.
- Oz at her shoulder — her purple-and-black raven familiar accompanies her introduction 4.
- Childhood appearance — depicted with blonde hair, green eyes, and little braids during Ellin’s visit to the past 435.
Personality
Fischl presents herself as a grandiose princess, using elaborate declarations and dramatic poses. This persona conceals loneliness, insecurity, and a fear of rejection rather than a lack of intelligence. When Ellin understands her speech and responds in kind, Fischl is delighted but initially too overwhelmed to answer naturally 4 10 11.
She is thoughtful and protective in dangerous situations. She warns Ellin about unfamiliar monsters, intercepts attacks aimed at her, and remains concerned for her safety even during the Whopperflowers’ overwhelming barrage. When cornered in Wolvendom, her desire to see Ellin again helps her overcome despair and devise a survival plan 5 6 7 17.
Her affection for Ellin is openly physical and sometimes mischievous. She enjoys holding hands, playing with Ellin’s hair, and sharing overnight stays. She later deliberately chooses distant commissions so that their return is late enough to invite Ellin home. Her cheek kiss leaves Ellin wondering whether Fischl’s feelings are romantic, although Fischl explicitly vows lifelong best friendship 11 13 24 25 34 35.
After their covenant at Cape Oath, Fischl stops using her usual theatrical speech at the Guild because she no longer needs it to conceal her loneliness. She still uses the princess persona playfully when joining the paradise-building project 25 40.
Her theatrical manner remains part of her self-expression in later chapters. She uses it to welcome Noelle, play along with Ellin, and comfort her after Mona’s unsettling remarks. Ellin emphasizes that Fischl’s fantasies do not make her disregard other people’s feelings: she understands Ellin well and takes her wishes into account even when helping establish her grandiose divine title 93 108 310 388.
Fischl is an exuberant supporter of Ellin’s achievements. After Ellin drives Stormterror away, she cheers with such enthusiasm that the embarrassed Sucrose retreats behind a wall. Her devotion also makes her protective of Ellin’s emotional well-being; she angrily glares at Mona before assuring Ellin that she will remain beside her regardless of her status 52 388.
Despite gaining close friends, Fischl remains socially awkward when confronted with unfamiliar attention. At the finale’s fan event, she initially fears that her dramatic speech has offended the crowd. When the fans respond with matching poses and declarations, she becomes tearfully happy to discover so many people willing to play along with her 461.
Abilities & Skills
Electro Manipulation
Fischl channels Electro through her Vision, particularly into arrows 6 8.
- Intercepts an incoming fireball with an Electro-infused shot 6.
- Breaks a Whopperflower’s Pyro shield with concentrated Electro, using the resulting Overloaded explosion to launch it into position for Ellin’s attack 8.
- Faces a major environmental limitation: Electro reacting with Pyro produces explosions that can ignite surrounding vegetation. In the Whispering Woods, she initially restricts herself to ordinary arrows 6.
- Fires two Electro arrows into the critical cores of a Ruin Hunter and a Ruin Grader, immobilizing both machines for her allies’ assault 463.
Archery and Woodland Combat
Fischl’s strengths are precision, timing, stealth, and hit-and-run tactics. Although she shoots more slowly than Ellin, she initially has much greater combat experience 7 17.
- Interrupts a Whopperflower’s attempt to burrow by striking its crown at the right moment 7.
- Uses trees and restricted terrain to hinder much larger Hilichurl Berserkers 17.
- Kills more than a dozen Hilichurls and one Berserker while severely wounded, before blood loss leaves her unable to continue 18.
- Demonstrates precise targeting of mechanical weak points against Ruin machines in the finale 463.
Familiar: Oz
Oz appeared alongside Fischl’s Vision. Fischl describes his creation as Electro taking form through her wish, with a small portion of her life linked to him; she cautions that this is only her understanding of the process 6.
- Scouting: Oz surveys terrain from the air to locate commission targets 5.
- Combat support: He fires lightning to intercept attacks and protect Fischl 7.
- Mental communication: Their shared bond allows them to communicate directly through their minds 17.
- Shared thoughts and soul: Fischl explicitly confirms that she and Oz share thoughts and a soul when discussing the implications of Feng’er’s bond with Ellin 108.
- Emergency assistance: Fischl sends him to Mondstadt for reinforcements; he later helps Feng’er carry her to treatment 17 18.
- Scouting limitation: Aerial searches are ineffective for wolfhooks hidden beneath bushes 16.
- Summoning: Fischl calls Oz into battle with “Reveal yourself, Oz!”, whereupon he appears amid lightning 463.
Fischl’s explanation of Oz’s origin enables Ellin to attempt familiar summoning through her Supreme Insight talent, with the system initially presenting Feng’er’s birth as the reproduction of Fischl’s ability 6 7. The finale later reveals that Feng’er was originally the will of Teyvat and chose to become Ellin’s familiar during the forest-fire crisis. Thus, the initial summoning account does not fully explain Feng’er’s true origin 445.
Investigation and Monster Knowledge
Fischl combines Guild intelligence-gathering experience with practical knowledge of monster behavior 5 6.
- Explains why close-range attacks against Pyro Slimes risk burns 5.
- Identifies Whopperflowers’ shields, underground movement, camouflage, and fire barrages 6.
- Recognizes Abyss Order activity around a Statue of the Seven as an urgent threat and attempts to report it 16 17.
- Continues receiving investigation assignments later in the story. An urgent Guild mission prevents her from exploring ruins with a friend, so she asks Ellin to take her place rather than disappoint him 101 108.
Drawing and Illustration
Fischl took drawing lessons when she was younger to depict the dramatic fantasies she imagined. Although initially rusty from lack of practice and still far below Albedo’s skill, she is a capable artist 323.
For Ellin’s novel The Domineering Electro Archon Falls for Me!, she intensively refreshes her drawing techniques and produces two illustrations. Her signature, together with the protagonist’s name Ailin, allows Ellin’s close friends to recognize the otherwise concealed authorship 323.
Claimed Fantasy Powers
Fischl’s declarations about ruling the Immernachtreich, flying, plucking stars from the heavens, and possessing an Eye of Condemnation belong to her fictional persona rather than demonstrated personal abilities 93 435 436.
- When Noelle expects her to fly as described in The Ballad of the Prinzessin der Verurteilung, Fischl explains that most of her power is sealed 93.
- The meteor that appears to validate her childhood claim is summoned by Ellin’s Planet Befall, not by Fischl 436.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Electro Vision — obtained with Oz on her fourteenth birthday 10.
- Bow — her original bow is unnamed in the provided passages; she uses both ordinary and Electro-infused arrows 5 6.
- Mitternachts Waltz — a purple-and-black bow shaped like a night raven with spread wings. Ellin gives it to her at Cape Oath, and Fischl promises to treasure it 24.
- Large Cryo Slime pendant — purchased as a gift for Ellin using her wolfhook commission rewards. Its aqua-blue design matches Ellin’s coloring and Cryo Vision 16 24.
- Sub-Space Creation Access Permit — given by Ellin so Fischl can enter the Serenitea Pot and meet her even when she travels far away 41.
- Fantasy novels — The Ballad of the Prinzessin der Verurteilung inspires her identity. She later shares a room full of light novels with Shenhe as a figurative journey through countless worlds 276 323 435.
Relationships
- Ellin — first human friend brought home for dinner and eventual lifelong best friend. Their bond unlocks Ellin’s second Vision, additional weapon and Artifact slots, and the system’s world map 10 24 25. Fischl considers Ellin the most important person in her life and promises to remain beside her regardless of her position or power 388. Their affectionate reunions and shared sleeping arrangements continue during Ellin’s travels 156 165. Ellin’s later journey into the past also reveals that she secretly protected Fischl as a child, leaving an impression that helped draw Fischl toward her years later 435 436.
- Oz — loyal familiar, interpreter, and scouting partner. He prioritizes Fischl’s life and places himself between her and approaching Whopperflowers 4 7. Fischl initially tries to help him court Feng’er, but agrees to tell him to give up after learning how Feng’er’s shared soul and thoughts with Ellin complicate the relationship 108.
- Her parents — loving but initially inconsistent in their treatment of her fantasies. They later recognize their responsibility for her isolation and are deeply grateful to Ellin 10 25. They also tease Fischl about how much she misses Ellin during her absence 156.
- Barbara — heals Fischl’s forest-fire burns and helps restore her after the Wolvendom ambush 9 22.
- Feng’er — Ellin’s familiar and Fischl’s battle ally; coordinates with her against Whopperflowers and helps evacuate her to Mondstadt 7 8 18. Fischl volunteers eagerly to help when Feng’er presents a way to awaken Ellin after Mondstadt’s disaster, though the required power exceeds ordinary people’s capabilities 405.
- Sucrose — fellow participant in building the Luofu Abode paradise. Sucrose thanks both Fischl and Ellin for entering her life 40 41. They later prepare a celebration feast together and frequently stay with Ellin in the Serenitea Pot 70 93 108.
- Noelle — a friend who patiently listens to Fischl’s declarations and brings her snacks and tea. Noelle takes her stories literally, even mistaking The Ballad of the Prinzessin der Verurteilung for her autobiography. Fischl and Sucrose warmly welcome her into Wonderland 93. Fischl later fights beside Noelle to defend Mondstadt’s orphanage from Rifthounds 400.
- Klee — part of Fischl’s shared circle around Ellin. Fischl and Sucrose play with her in the Serenitea Pot, and she accompanies their Lantern Rite outing and Watatsumi Island vacation 108 224 263.
- Shenhe — welcomed by Fischl, Noelle, and Sucrose into Wonderland and their Mondstadt outings. Fischl shares her love of light novels with her, while Shenhe later rescues Fischl and the others from a collapsing shrine on Watatsumi Island 276 307.
- Gorou and Sangonomiya Kokomi — Fischl helps them establish Ellin as Watatsumi Island’s god. Gorou initially mistakes her theatrical introduction and association with Ellin for evidence that Fischl is another exalted powerhouse 308 310.
- Mona — a new friend met through the Adventurers’ Guild, whom Fischl introduces to Ellin. Fischl reacts angrily to Mona’s unsettling remarks about Ellin but is asked by Ellin not to blame her for speaking frankly as an astrologist 387 388.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Meeting Ellin and the Whispering Woods Fire
Fischl helps Ellin register at the Adventurers’ Guild and uses her own rank to obtain a C-rank commission against three Large Pyro Slimes. The completed hunt becomes a crisis when two Blazing Whopperflowers ambush them. Fischl and Feng’er hold the enemies off, then coordinate their shield-breaking attacks so Ellin can strike both with a charged Frostflake Arrow 4 5 6 7 8.
After escaping the fire, both girls receive treatment from Barbara and explain the incident to the Knights and Guild. Fischl invites Ellin home, where Ellin’s promise to remain her friend moves her to tears. Their following outings include shopping, reading fantasy novels, and gathering Valberries 9 10 11 13.
Wolvendom Ambush and Recovery
While earning money for Ellin’s pendant, Fischl discovers Abyss Mages and Hilichurls digging around a Statue of the Seven. A surprise fireball severely wounds her. She sends Oz for help and fights a woodland retreat until blood loss overwhelms her, calling Ellin’s name before losing consciousness 16 17 18.
Ellin arrives in time to have the familiars evacuate Fischl, then destroys her attackers at great cost to herself. Fischl recovers through emergency treatment but stays beside Ellin, who remains unconscious for three days. Her relief when Ellin wakes is accompanied by guilt over her friend’s injuries 18 21 22.
Cape Oath Covenant
During an electro-crystal commission at Cape Oath, Fischl finally expresses her guilt. Ellin reassures her that protecting her was a choice, not a burden. Fischl then gives her the pendant, receives Mitternachts Waltz in return, kisses her cheek, and swears lifelong friendship before the moon and stars 23 24.
Guild Work and the Luofu Abode
Secure in their friendship, Fischl returns to her neglected Guild duties and begins finishing her work in the morning to spend afternoons with Ellin. She later joins Ellin, Sucrose, and their familiars in a week-long project to build a fantastical home across three islands in the Luofu Abode 25 35 40.
The Serenitea Pot becomes a recurring gathering place for their expanding circle. Fischl and Sucrose welcome Noelle, guide her through Wonderland, and share an evening with Ellin while taking care not to disturb her injuries. Fischl also continues her Guild work, asking Ellin to substitute for her on a planned ruins expedition when an urgent investigation takes priority 93 101 108.
Dragon Crisis and Celebration
Fischl enthusiastically cheers Ellin after she drives Stormterror away from Mondstadt. Before the expedition to save Dvalin, she blesses Ellin’s mission as Ellin leaves the Serenitea Pot to meet her companions 52 58.
Three days after the dragon crisis, Fischl and Sucrose help prepare Ellin’s celebration feast in the Serenitea Pot. The gathering gives them a sense of belonging among Ellin’s friends. Both stay overnight afterward, remaining asleep when Ellin quietly leaves the realm 70.
Wedding Objection and Later Reunions
During the staged wedding intended to draw out Lumine’s brother, Fischl becomes increasingly distressed as the bride and groom approach a kiss. She slams the table and stands to object, but Aether shouts his objection first, leaving her momentarily confused 136.
When Ellin returns to Mondstadt after resolving Xiao’s situation, Fischl greets her with an excited bear hug while her parents tease her about how much she has missed her. Later, during their time in Liyue, Fischl wakes to find Ellin cuddling her and joins Noelle and Sucrose in noticing that Ellin has become more relaxed and gentle 156 165.
Lantern Rite and Watatsumi Island
Ellin transports Fischl, Noelle, Sucrose, and Klee to Liyue through the Serenitea Pot for Lantern Rite. They help run stalls displaying Sucrose’s unusual plants. When Madame Ping asks Fischl about an enormous flower, Oz explains that it is a modified Glaze Lily 224.
The same group later visits Watatsumi Island for a seaside vacation. Fischl, Noelle, and Sucrose show Ellin their swimsuits before joining her and Klee at the shore. Ellin builds them a house and clears dangerous pirates, bandits, and monsters from the area to protect their holiday 263.
When Shanqi’s wave destroys the shrine where they are staying, Shenhe rescues Fischl and the others. Fischl tells Shenhe about Ellin’s earlier feat of piercing a dragon’s wing with an arrow 307.
Following Ellin’s defeat of Shanqi, Fischl meets Gorou and initially assumes his references to a Resistance Army and general are theatrical fantasy. His soldiers instead regard her as an exalted figure associated with their divine protector. Fischl subsequently helps Kokomi and Gorou declare Ellin Watatsumi Island’s god and reminds Ellin of the full title “Sunlit Heaven-Clearing True God Ogosho.” Ellin recognizes that Fischl has taken her wishes into account despite indulging her dramatic imagination 308 310.
Sharing Friendship and Creative Work
Fischl helps welcome Shenhe into Wonderland and joins the outings through which Shenhe develops close friendships in Mondstadt. Her offer to guide Shenhe through countless worlds turns out to mean introducing her to a room full of light novels 276.
She also contributes two illustrations to Ellin’s novel The Domineering Electro Archon Falls for Me! Her signature becomes part of a private clue to the book’s authorship: Lumine and Paimon explain to Ayaka that Fischl’s name, combined with the protagonist’s name Ailin, identifies Ellin as the writer 323.
Later, Fischl introduces Mona to Ellin after befriending her at the Adventurers’ Guild. When Mona’s remarks unsettle Ellin, Fischl disregards the strange looks of nearby diners and uses her princess persona to promise continued companionship 387 388.
Mondstadt’s Disaster and Ellin’s Recovery
During the Rifthound attack on Mondstadt, Fischl and Oz fight beside Noelle outside the orphanage to keep the monsters away from its children 400.
After the disaster leaves Ellin unconscious, Fischl remains among the friends concerned for her recovery. On the seventieth day, she eagerly volunteers when Feng’er reveals a possible means of awakening Ellin, but learns that the necessary power must come from Venti, Zhongli, and Ei 405.
Ellin awakens five days after the Archons replenish part of her strength, bringing relief to Fischl and the other visitors. Her continuing sorrow and uncertainty nevertheless trouble them. After Venti advises giving Ellin time and peace, Fischl exchanges determined glances with Noelle and Sucrose 406 407.
At Ellin’s eighteenth-birthday party in the Serenitea Pot, Fischl, Sucrose, and Noelle embrace her and cry with joy when they recognize the return of her familiar self. They then show her the enormous birthday cake 416.
Childhood Intervention Revealed
Ellin’s visit to the past reveals Fischl’s childhood attempt to make friends and the bullying that follows her inability to prove her invented powers. Ellin’s concealed meteor strike rescues her from the situation without disclosing her identity 435 436.
The incident becomes a cherished but increasingly uncertain childhood memory. The enduring impression of the distant white-haired girl provides an additional explanation for Fischl’s immediate attraction to Ellin’s appearance and her impulse to approach her during their first meeting 436.
Finale: Fan Acceptance and Combat
At the finale’s fan event, Fischl receives numerous requests for photographs. Her shyness prompts her to fall back on dramatic poses and princess declarations, but the crowd enthusiastically responds in kind. Discovering so many people who enjoy her persona moves her to tears, and her part of the venue becomes especially lively before the group joins the official booth activities 461.
In the concluding battle scene, Fischl summons Oz and precisely shoots the critical cores of a Ruin Hunter and a Ruin Grader with Electro arrows. Their immobilization creates an opening for the group’s all-out assault 463.
