For the living creatures fighting them, the mere sight of these endless monsters was enough to fill them with despair.
They all knew that even if they fought for days and nights, until they died of exhaustion, they could never kill all these monsters.
They all understood that death was their inevitable fate against this endless horde.
Wolvendom.
Over a thousand wolves raced through the black smoke.
As living creatures, they too were targets for the monsters from beyond this world.
Trees fell in great swathes. Without the forest's cover, the wolves' fighting strength was greatly diminished.
But wolves were animals that did not fear danger. To survive, they attacked the monsters.
Fearless of death, the wolves charged forward, baring their fangs and swinging their claws to tear at the monsters' bodies.
But these zombie-like monsters, born solely to destroy, felt no pain at all.
Although the wolves' bites tore apart their bodies, they did nothing to drive the monsters back.
The monsters swung their claws at the wolves biting into them, effortlessly ripping through their throats.
Then they seized the wolves by the head, tore them off their bodies, and threw them to the ground.
In an instant, the ground of Wolvendom was drenched in wolf blood.
Nearly two hundred wolves were killed in that first clash alone.
Their mangled corpses were tossed to the ground, where the monsters coming behind trampled them into twisted heaps of flesh and blood.
Despair hung over all of Wolvendom.
