Background / History

Searching for Aether

Lumine travels with Paimon in search of her missing brother, Aether. Tartaglia gives them a Sigil of Permission, claiming that presenting it to the adepti will secure their help. Near Qingyun Peak, Treasure Hoarders surround them after hearing that they carry an adeptal treasure 9 10.

Zhong Baiye and Keqing drive off the attackers. Lumine initially mistakes Zhong Baiye for Aether: a photograph of the siblings confirms that the two men look identical apart from their hair color. After learning the truth, she apologizes and joins their search for the adepti 9 10.

Moon Carver attempts to locate Aether but fails, although he assures Lumine that she will see her brother again. Zhong Baiye offers to act as her big brother in the meantime. She accepts and subsequently chooses to remain with him as the party seeks the other adepti 10 11.

Journey Among the Adepti

At Wangshu Inn, Lumine gains the ability to see Xiao Ming through a landscape painting. Despite initially fearing the ghost, she follows the group and helps Zhong Baiye and Keqing destroy an attacking Ruin Hunter. The party later meets Xiao and obtains his agreement to help 11 12 13.

On Hulao Mountain, Lumine helps defeat Hilichurls threatening Li Ding’s group. When the rescued Treasure Hoarders turn against their rescuers, she fights beside Zhong Baiye and encourages Keqing to overcome her guilt. The bandits repeatedly threaten Lumine with sneak attacks before Mountain Shaper intervenes 15 16.

Inside Cloud Retainer’s abode, Lumine is swallowed by a Slime after exhausting herself in combat. Paimon discovers that the Sigil of Permission controls the Slimes and orders them to release the party. Lumine later helps solve the timed Elemental Monument puzzle and survives the giant Anemo Slime blocking their exit 20 21 26 27 28.

Liyue Harbor and the Rite of Parting

During a Fatui ambush, Lumine fights alongside Zhong Baiye and Keqing. After Keqing defeats the attackers and collapses, Lumine examines her, administers holy water mouth-to-mouth, and explains that an unfamiliar technique caused her to expend too much power 31 32.

After Keqing returns to her official duties, Lumine accompanies Zhong Baiye to seek Childe’s help. At their subsequent meeting with Zhongli, she identifies Rex Lapis as the central issue behind Liyue’s crisis. She joins the preparations for the Rite of Parting, which will provide a way to approach his hidden remains 34 36 37.

At the Jade Mystery, Lumine chooses a modest Uncut Stone costing one thousand Mora. Though it appears worthless as Shitou cuts it down, it ultimately yields a glowing Runestone. Lumine discovers that the incomplete talisman amplifies her elemental power, and Zhong Baiye gives it to her 38 39 40 41.

She subsequently assists with testing noctilucous jade and sourcing perfume materials. When Zhang Yi doubts that she and Zhong Baiye are customers at Ying’er’s shop, Lumine uses an intimate display of affection to convince him. After learning about his harassment of Ying’er, she supports finding a nonviolent solution and accompanies the group to investigate at the docks 45 47 49.

Appearance

• Expressions: Often blushes around Zhong Baiye, including after their first meeting, her kisses, and his unexpected embrace 9 17 41.

Personality

Lumine is openly affectionate toward Zhong Baiye, feeling an immediate, unexplained closeness to him. She frequently hugs his arm, enjoys his head pats, and becomes increasingly bold about expressing her attraction. Her initial shyness gives way to attempts to share his room and a conspicuous intimate display at Ying’er’s shop 11 18 23 34 49.

Her attachment also makes her jealous. She competes with Keqing for Zhong Baiye’s attention, but their rivalry does not prevent cooperation: she comforts Keqing after the Treasure Hoarders’ betrayal and personally revives her after the Fatui battle 17 29 32.

Lumine is generous toward Paimon, offering to reduce her own treasure share to account for her companion’s demands. She recognizes Paimon’s manipulative behavior but eventually yields to her pleas. She also shows restraint in practical matters, choosing a cheap Uncut Stone and warning that assaulting Zhang Yi would bring Millelith intervention 22 38 49.
