How could anyone describe the bizarre sight before them?
A round metal trash can had sprouted two human legs and was blundering aimlessly around the alley, its metal shell clanging against the walls.
Seele stepped forward and asked:
"Hey, need some help?"
"H-help!" came a muffled voice from inside the trash can.
Seele turned to Bronya.
"Give me a hand."
Without needing another word, one grabbed the ankles while the other grabbed the trash can, and they pulled hard in opposite directions.
A gray-haired girl with golden eyes emerged.
Bronya stared for a moment, then said:
"You?"
"Sorry. A careless moment on my adventure got me eaten by a Mimic." Stelle adopted a solemn expression. "I shall never forget your great kindness. However, this is a rather inconvenient time, so please allow me to take my leave."
"Wait." Seele stopped Stelle. "You still haven't told me how you got stuck in a trash can."
"This concerns the workings of the universe and the highest truth. All I can say is that there's a lot going on beneath the surface, and a sentence or two won't explain it. At this point, those who understand already understand, and those who don't still don't. To address this issue, we must reach new heights..." Stelle delivered her evasions with perfect seriousness while looking for an opportunity to inch backward.
"All right, let me be honest with you. I've been investigating a Trash Can Vandalism Case in Boulder Town lately." Seele watched Stelle calmly. "If you stay, you're an honorable citizen actively cooperating with the investigation. If you run, you're a suspect fleeing justice."
