At those words, Xianyu instinctively held his breath.
He controlled his expression while trying hard to work out what Lan meant.
The same choice as me... what did that mean?
Did he mean erasing their achievements?
Or did he mean... death?
Xianyu murmured, "The same choice as me..."
His voice was barely audible. Had Lan not been an Aeon, he might have missed those words.
Then Lan saw Xianyu turn toward him and ask, each word deliberate:
"What was the same choice as me?"
Lan answered without hesitation. "Like you, they deleted all their records."
Xianyu's eyes were half-lidded, as though he were weighing the truth of those words.
A moment later, he waved at Lan, signaling for him to leave.
Lan: "..."
Before leaving, he still felt uneasy and repeated himself. "They really only deleted their records."
Xianyu slowly turned to look at Lan and asked uncertainly, "They only deleted their records?"
He could accept erasing his own achievements, but he could not accept his subordinates making the same decision.
Lan really... had a nasty way of putting things.
What? Was deleting their records not enough? Did they have to follow his example and die, too?
Xianyu closed his eyes, struggling to control his emotions and suppress the urge to leap up and beat Lan.
When he opened his eyes again, he urged Lan, "Finish your wine before you leave."
Lan first took a sip of the red wine. He paused almost imperceptibly, then tipped his head back and drained the glass.
He returned the empty wineglass to its original spot and said without a change in expression, "As expected of your prized collection. The flavor really is extraordinary."
Xianyu sneered.
"Akivili and I have drunk Cabernet Sauvignon before. This wine needs to breathe for at least an hour.
