Xianyu was baffled. He stared at the crown of Jingliu's head, unable to make sense of it.
As her partner, surely he had some say in what Jingliu wore?
Epiphyllums bloomed so briefly that they carried an unfortunate meaning. All Xianyu wanted was for Jingliu to change her accessory, and she had gotten angry?
Jingliu had tugged his bathrobe open, exposing most of his upper body. Every so often, her long hair brushed against his chest.

Xianyu raised a hand and tucked Jingliu's slightly disheveled hair behind her ear.
She did not linger at his collarbone for long. Soon, she released him and kissed the side of his neck instead.
"Let's move somewhere else," Xianyu said softly.
Jingliu stopped, drew back from him, and nodded gently.
Xianyu had meant to take the opportunity to straighten the collar of his robe, but before he could raise his hands, Jingliu obligingly reached out both arms and hooked them around his neck.
Seeing that, Xianyu could only wrap one arm around Jingliu's shoulders and slip the other beneath her knees, lifting her into his arms.
Without hesitation, he carried Jingliu toward the living room.
He had only taken a few steps when Jingliu asked:
"That time I got drunk, why did you carry me back?"
Every time she thought back on it, something felt off.
Xianyu seemed gentle on the surface, but he was actually anything but easy to approach. He was very mindful of boundaries and never readily grew close to anyone.
Jingliu had put considerable effort into getting together with him.
So why had Xianyu suddenly carried her back then? Was it because...he had feelings for her too?
What other reason could there be? Xianyu thought.
