Aha couldn't believe it.
So even his best friend's wife hadn't managed to talk him out of it!
The Aeon sat where he was, considered it for a moment, and promptly decided to play dumb.
Aha pretended he hadn't understood and deliberately put on an angry expression.
"What did that blockhead Qlipoth do?! How did he manage to upset you? You're usually so good-tempered-"
Xianyu chuckled and shook his head.
"No, I just thought of a perfect solution to our problem."
Aha scratched his head and gave a dry laugh.
This "our"... who else did that include besides his best friend and himself?
The Aeon asked stiffly, "So the only thing being sacrificed... is Qlipoth's wall?"
There was a smile in Xianyu's voice. "And me."
Aha fell silent.
He looked up and met the eyes of the man before him.
Xianyu's expression hadn't changed. He still wore that smile Aha had seen countless times, as though he were watching children play.
"I have to admit, humans and gods are different."
What are you even saying with that utterly godlike expression?! Aha thought.
Xianyu continued, "If, as you said, the probability is point one percent..."
Aha timidly raised his hand.
"Best friend, it's not point one percent. The odds aren't that high. It's somewhere between point zero one and point one percent..."
Point one percent meant it might happen once in a thousand attempts.
Point zero one percent meant it might only happen once in ten thousand attempts.
Xianyu paused, then quickly reached a conclusion.
One thousand to ten thousand-wasn't that just a four-digit number?
With my luck, though, this is probably the one thousand and first cycle.
At that thought, the almost nonexistent guilt in Xianyu's heart vanished completely.
"What does time even mean to you?"
"Even if the cycle
