"Huff... huff... we have to get out of here right now."

Classic appeared beside Fell and Blue.

A mass of threads surged toward them just then, seizing control of all three souls.

They had been completely flanked.

Murder and Killer teleported onto a rock in midair.

"Okay, listen, Murder. This situation isn't something we can get involved in anymore."

Killer spoke to Murder as she attacked the mass of blue threads rushing down from above.

"I didn't expect there to be so many... uh, those evil Sanses here."

"So what are you planning to do now?"

Murder asked. He wasn't having an easy time either, using a barrage of shock waves to support Killer.

"What I'm saying is, we help them one last time, then leave. Whatever happens after that is out of our hands."

Killer spoke seriously.

If their opponents had been on their level, their presence would have made a big difference.

But things weren't that simple now.

Rule-breaking monsters like Error and Nightmare were here too.

And Ink.

Yes, Ink was back for a limited time.

She always managed to pull some stunt that made everyone want to black out.

This time was no exception. Killer saw the half of a purple soul inside the little glass bottle in her hand.

It held the power to overwrite.

Back in Underswap, that human had accomplished plenty with a very incomplete version of this ability.

It was hard to imagine what would happen if the soul in that little bottle were released.

She was going to do something big.

If they stayed any longer, they might not even be able to save themselves.

Killer opened a spacetime rift beneath them and shouted to Murder.

"Go!"

Murder summoned three bone spikes, severing the blue threads controlling Blue, Fell, and Classic.

Seeing that Murder had finished giving them one last helping hand, Killer immediately slashed her dagger in eight directions around her, unleashing gigantic blades of energy that briefly held back the tidal wave of blue threads.

Then the two jumped into the spacetime rift and vanished without a sound.

"Sigh..."

Murder slumped over Grillby's bar, looking exhausted.

Killer's rift had sent them into some timeline in Undertale. At least they had time to sit down and rest now.

Grillby's was unusually quiet, and even the owner wasn't at his post.

Maybe it was break time.

In any case, this wasn't a genocide timeline. Murder had already checked with Killer.

"...I'll agree with you this time."

Killer slumped beside Murder, looking just as worn out.

"Who knew we'd run into enemies like that while tagging along with those Sanses?"

"..."

Murder stayed silent. Seeing that he wasn't speaking, Killer said nothing more either.

The two simply lay slumped there.

And stayed there.

And stayed there.

A woman's voice came from Murder's right.

"Murder, long time no see."

Murder knew that Killer was sitting on his other side.

The person greeting him could only be someone he-Sans-knew in this timeline.

And she had mistaken him for Sans.

Although he was indeed Sans, unfortunately, he wasn't this place's Sans.

Even so, to spare her the embarrassment, he decided to pretend to be the Sans from this place.

"Long time no..."

Murder was just about to imitate Classic Sans's way of speaking when something strange occurred to him.

"Wait, what did you just call me?"

"Murder. Why?"

Murder sat bolt upright and turned toward the voice.

The moment he turned, the girl's head gave him a fright.

It was covered in wounds.

Some had split wide open, blood spurting out of them.

But she didn't seem to be in much pain, and she had even tied an enormous bow on her head.

She was also holding a charred skull.

She was even smaller than Killer, and white light shone in her pupils, giving her a rather lively air.

"How... do you know me?"

Murder was ten parts surprised-no, even nine. How did she know the name Murder?

"Uh... it's a long story. Actually, the one I know is another you."

"I met a mysterious person before. You know, the kind of mysterious person who talks with his hands."

Insanity held out her hand, and Murder noticed a hole in it.

A trace left by ███'s control.

"He gave me a shot of... it's strange, but after that... I think I became a little more normal."

Murder nodded in agreement. If she could recognize that she had become a little more normal, it must really have worked.

"Later... I met you in the corridor... and a LV1 girl who looked like us."

"After that... we fought that human. That human was much stronger than the one back in my world. Even the three of us together couldn't beat it."

"Just as we were about to lose, and I was getting ready to reset, ███ appeared."

"He controlled both me and that girl, and the battle started tipping in our favor."

"In the end... that human croaked."

Insanity swayed a little.

"After it died, I wanted to return to my own spacetime and reset... after all, I remembered just what I'd done."

"But... uh... I ran into three Sanses."

"One of them looked a lot like you."

"The three of them wanted me to join them and work for some guy called Nightmare."

"I ran away, then met the you who's here now."

Insanity smoothed her hair. It was very long and stained with a great deal of blood. She probably hadn't taken much care of it before this.

"I know you're not the Murder I met, but... I need your help right now."
