About two hours later, Frisk finally arrived in Snowdin.
As she passed the Snowdin library, she spotted Linde sitting quietly in a corner, reading.
The book in Linde's hands looked very new, as though it had just been printed.
[Long, long ago, there was no difference between humans and monsters. Both were beings made of energy.
[Back then, humans and monsters seemed to belong to the same species.
[Later, for reasons unknown, the human form changed. Unlike monsters' energy bodies, humans developed physical bodies.
[At first, we believed this was a burden, a regression that prevented beings from living forever and made it difficult for them to use magic.
[Reality, however, dealt us a crushing blow. Human bodies had undoubtedly evolved: determination had emerged within them.
[This power made human souls incredibly strong and enhanced human strength to a terrifying degree.
[We still do not know how humans evolved, and we continue to search for the cause.
[At present, however, several theories have been proposed:
[1. Humans acquired physical bodies by consuming matter.
[This is entirely feasible in theory, but it raises one major question: where did that matter come from?
[According to historical records, physical food only appeared after humans developed physical bodies. We cannot rule out the possibility that humans deliberately concealed something.
[Humans did not strictly control access to physical food, which is another puzzling point. However, the monsters of that time believed this food was harmful and never ate it.
[2. A special form of mass transformation magic.
[This explains every question raised by the first theory, but it has one enormous flaw:
[Even transforming a single individual requires tremendous magical power, and the cost of a mass transformation increases exponentially. Even all the magical power humans possessed at the time could not have accomplished such a spell.
[3. An invasion from another world.
[Though this possibility may seem absurd, it perfectly resolves every issue with the first two theories. The only question is whether other worlds exist.
[The emergence of humans with physical bodies remains a great mystery. We have begun experiments on human souls and hope to achieve results in the future.]
Linde put down the book and rubbed his tired eyes. He glanced around, saw no one else, then lowered his head and resumed reading.
In the end, Frisk decided not to disturb Linde and went to the Snowdin inn to sleep by herself.
After reading another book, Linde turned to the proprietor and said, "All right, I'm going to get some rest. I'll come back to read after I see Waluigi tomorrow."
The library's proprietor couldn't help asking curiously, "Waluigi? Who's that?"
"Oh, that's Papyrus. It's a nickname. It means brave and powerful," Linde bluffed.
In his previous life, Papyrus's expressions, appearance, and voice had all been strikingly similar to Waluigi's. Combined with Underpants' antics, the nickname had become extremely famous online overseas.
"Oh, really? That's a lovely meaning," the library's proprietor remarked.
Linde then arrived at the inn as well. First, he tiptoed into Frisk's room, took her hand, and used it to tap the air twice.
A key appeared. Linde took the key to Sans's room and quietly returned to his own room.
The next day, when Frisk woke up, Linde was still fast asleep, so she decided to scout ahead. She ran into Papyrus, and after a battle, Frisk soon spared him.
A little while later, Papyrus hurried into the library. "I'd like a few books about dating."
Sitting in the corner, Linde smacked his lips. Did I miss little Frisk flirting? God, what a shame! If I'd known, I wouldn't have stayed up reading so late last night!
"Here you go, Waluigi." The librarian handed Papyrus several books.
"Waluigi? Who's that?" Papyrus asked in confusion. Why had he never heard that name before?
The librarian glanced at Linde in the corner. "Oh, it's a nickname a child gave you. He said it means brave and powerful."
"Wah!! Then from now on, I am-the Great... Waluigi!!!"
The corners of Linde's mouth twitched wildly. It seemed he had accidentally sent a character off course...
