A month passed in a flash, perhaps because they had been traveling the whole time, with the two children constantly studying along the way.

Linde's magic power still had not recovered, but Frisk had mastered quite a few soul formulas.

A month was not as long as they had imagined, slipping by before they knew it. One thing worth mentioning was that they celebrated Carlret's four hundred and sixty-third birthday.

Carlret was a goat-type monster, and he could use fire magic. Linde was almost certain that he was a boss monster.

He might even have been an ancestor of Asgore or Toriel.

Today, however, the two children had no interest in pondering any of that, because they had finally reached the seaside.

Gazing at the boundless sea, Linde could not help marveling. He had seen the sea only once in his previous life, during an outing organized by the orphanage when he was very young. He barely remembered it...

As for Frisk? She had grown up in a seaside city, but even so, she still loved the sea.

Watching the two children run back and forth across the beach, Carlret could not help chuckling. They were still children, after all.

"Right here will do." With that, Carlret began making a flying magic artifact.

Since no one in this era crossed the sea by boat, and boats were too slow anyway, mages generally used flying artifacts to make the crossing.

Before long, a simple Flying Board was ready.

They boarded the Flying Board, preparing to cross the Bailing Strait.

Just then, a giant octopus burst out of the sea with a tremendous roar.

The giant octopus was enormous, its entire body covered in rotting flesh. Cartilage showed through in places, making both children's stomachs churn.

"This... this is an Evil Spirit!"
