"My lord!"
So, so tiny.
Lin Jin floated lightly above the candlestick on the table.
His appearance was hardly detailed, either. He was thoroughly chibi, with even the edges of his shell rounded off, the very opposite of imposing.
Every bug in the spacious meeting room was stunned by Lin Jin's sudden appearance.
Whispers began to spread.
Isara and Aemon both looked surprised, leaning toward each other and exchanging puzzled glances.
"Why does he look like this?"
"Could our lord have suffered serious injuries too?"
"Is the Void truly that terrifying?"
Previously, Isara and the others had thought the Void troublesome, but with Lin Jin on their side, they had at least believed they would not suffer a total defeat.
Now, however, they were genuinely worried. If even the Sunfire God could not stand against the Void, wouldn't they be left with nothing to do but await death?
This was not disloyalty, merely an instinctive fear. After all, no matter how devout a mortal bug was, the day would eventually come when they died.
And without question, none of them wanted to die now.
On the candlestick atop the card table, Lin Jin saw the anxiety in his subordinates' eyes, but was in no hurry to refute it.
He had indeed come off worse in this clash with the Void, and his earlier forced manifestation in the mortal world had consumed most of his essence.
It was also true that his current form was a compromise made to conserve energy.
After all, the Void really was that troublesome.
But so what?
A sly smile appeared on Lin Jin's face.
His greatest cheat had never been mystery or his potential for power, but the knowledge he possessed as someone who had transmigrated.
