Smelting Plant
At Gron's orders, the bunkers built along the shore were dismantled, and all their supplies were transported to the Smelting Plant to repair the facility.
Gron knew perfectly well that getting this factory running smoothly was the key to their next operation.
His troops' equipment really did need maintenance. Returning to Ashen City for new equipment would take too long and simply wasn't worth it.
If the Smelting Plant couldn't produce new weapons and equipment before the assault, their next battle would be an all-or-nothing gamble.
But no matter how many solutions Gron tried, facts were facts. Willpower alone could not easily change them.
The repair crews worked overtime inspecting and testing everything, and eventually reached a conclusion: the thing was completely beyond repair.
Repairing it was pointless. They might as well dismantle it and build a new one.
Of course Gron knew that, but they didn't have enough time to build a replacement.
So the warmaster issued an absolute order: get it running. It didn't need to be fixed, and even a brief period of operation would suffice.
Whatever methods they used, they had to repair the Expedition Army's equipment before the next battle.
But that truly stumped the craftsmen. They weren't specialists in machinery, after all.
"His lordship is asking far too much of us. We all started out as blacksmiths. What do we know about repairing something this intricate?"
"Stop complaining. If you've got time for that, help me chip away this solidified iron. It's better than doing nothing."
The two craftsmen chatted as they did everything they could to repair the damaged blast furnace.
Even when the vibrations left their hands numb, they couldn't stop. As for why they didn't ask the soldiers to help, they had their reasons.
The warriors had no idea
