"The reasons are complicated, Sirius. As you know, Voldemort has never left the wizarding world."
"Based on the information I have received, I have reason to believe that Voldemort is recovering his strength. Harry may face danger during his time away from Hogwarts Castle."
Before Dumbledore could finish, Sirius impatiently interrupted him.
"If there's danger, that's all the more reason for him to stay with me. I remember Lily's sister-the place Harry's staying now. They're just a bunch of Muggles. They can't keep Harry safe at all!"
"I will do everything in my power to protect Harry, even if it costs me my life, just as James did."
"I have never doubted your resolve, Sirius," Dumbledore said softly. "Harry's circumstances are unusual. He must stay with his relatives to ensure his absolute safety."
"But I'm Harry's family too! I'm his godfather," Sirius retorted defiantly, raising his chin.
"By relatives, I mean blood relatives." Entirely untroubled by Black's attitude, Dumbledore shook his head slightly and explained gently, "Lily left an ancient spell on Harry. This blood magic is immensely powerful. It can protect Harry from harm."
"But this magic can only exert its power when he stays with relatives who share his blood. Voldemort cannot use it to locate Harry, which undoubtedly makes Harry's situation much safer."
Having understood Dumbledore's explanation, Black could not hide his disappointment, but he did not insist any further.
