In the students' eyes, Harry had performed considerably better than Krum.
But Karkaroff had actually given him only four points!
Yes, four! One point lower than the scores he had given Su Er and Pheobe.
What was more, Karkaroff had been very crafty. To keep Krum from coming last, he had waited until he had calculated the other four judges' scores before revealing his own.
Harry's total was only forty-one points, exactly one point below Krum and Pheobe, putting him squarely in last place.
But Harry did not seem to care at all.
"How are you?" Su Er glanced at the bandages around Harry's shoulder. All four Champions had now gathered in the second tent.
"It's nothing." Harry was still caught up in the lingering excitement of getting through the task. "Madam Pomfrey mixed me a potion. I can take the bandages off tonight."
"You were brilliant, Harry." Ludo Bagman lifted the tent flap and walked in, casually throwing an arm around Harry's shoulders, his face still flushed.
The corner of Harry's mouth twitched in pain. Ludo's large hand had landed heavily right on his injured shoulder. The spikes on the Hungarian Horntail's tail were venomous, and the wound still needed some time to heal.
"How did you think of using the Wronski Feint and the Starfish and Stick? Absolutely beautiful! That fellow Karkaroff simply has no eye for talent. As far as I'm concerned, you fully deserved top marks," Ludo said indignantly.
"Heh..." Harry nodded with a dry laugh.
At the mention of Karkaroff's scoring, Krum's face immediately darkened, and he gave Ludo Bagman a sullen look.
A world-class star like him had needed scoring that bordered on cheating to claim second place, and even then he had to share it with the little girl from Beauxbatons.
