It was a unicorn.

The one who cried out was Ron's girlfriend, Lavender Brown. She tugged at Ron's clothes. "Ro-Ro, did you see? A unicorn, a unicorn! Oh, it's so beautiful, isn't it?"

Two unicorns, one large and one small, stood a short distance beyond the big tree, where a temporary wooden stable had been built. This stable, however, looked much warmer than the one housing Beauxbatons' Abraxans.

The brown blocks of wood made the unicorn's snowy whiteness look even purer. By comparison, the snow around the stable seemed much duller.

It seemed a little uneasy, pawing the earth with its golden hooves and raising its horned head.

Beneath it, the young unicorn, whose coat had not yet turned entirely pure white, pressed close against it.

Everyone was looking at the adult unicorn, but Su Er keenly noticed a bandage wrapped around the rear flank of the little unicorn's abdomen. On closer inspection, faint traces of silver had seeped through it.

It was injured!

"I've heard unicorns are really hard to catch. How did Professor Hagrid catch it?" Remarks like this suddenly sprang up.

This clearly did not escape Hagrid's ears, and he spoke to everyone rather nervously.

"Oh, you mustn't say that, children. Catching unicorns without permission is illegal. I don't want to be sent to Azkaban."

"Then how did you get them to come here?" a young witch asked.

"Tina and Little Tina came to find me themselves." Hagrid raised his head rather proudly. "Oh, Tina is the name of the bigger unicorn. The little unicorn is its child."

"Some of you may already have noticed that Little Tina is injured, very badly injured. I found them while I was out on patrol. I'm certain that, if it hadn't been for me, Tina might have lost its child.
