Hagrid's lesson won unanimous praise from the young witches and wizards.
Perhaps because the lessons on Blast-Ended Skrewts before Christmas had put them through so much misery, this suddenly much more normal lesson had them lavishing praise without restraint. For the first time, they genuinely looked forward to seeing what Fantastic Beasts Hagrid would bring to their next lesson.
What fired up their enthusiasm for the lesson even more was-
Hagrid had once again resorted to the most direct method: financial incentives. He produced three bundles of unicorn tail hair, each containing a dozen or so hairs, to reward the three people who completed their assignments best. Madame Maxime and Hagrid would judge them together, and yes, this included the Beauxbatons students attending the lesson.
"I hope Hagrid gives us more lessons like this-this is exactly what I think Care of Magical Creatures should be," said Parvati Patil. "Respectable animals like unicorns, rather than something as unpleasant as Blast-Ended Skrewts..."
Her remarks met with widespread agreement.
Meanwhile, Hermione and Su Er brought up the rear of the group heading back to the Castle. The Beauxbatons students parted ways with them when they passed their carriage.

Su Er was rather surprised. He had never intended to solve the mystery at all. As mentioned before, he had skipped the process and already knew the result.
He knew what he needed to do when the second task began.
