Was there no end to this?
Zhang Xiao pulled an octopus nearly as tall as a person off himself, its suckers making popping noises against the Golden Light Spell covering his body.
Annoyed, he froze the octopus with a Freezing Charm and stuffed it into his Heaven and Earth Bag, muttering viciously:
"Go repent in my stomach!"
Having dealt with that, he looked up at the enormous, half-collapsed building in the distance. It hardly seemed any closer.
He had started out full of confidence, planning to blaze through the task, yet he had only managed a few hundred meters so far.
Nothing was hard to deal with, but it was irritating! Incredibly irritating!
Originally, he had planned to ride his Dragon Carp overhead and rush straight to the heart of the ruins, but the ruined City of the Sea proved strange at every turn.
It was like some kind of traffic restriction. The higher Zhang Xiao went, the harder it became. Less than ten meters off the ground, he felt as though he had sunk into a bog, with the surrounding water offering an astonishing amount of resistance.
Moving at a snail's pace was bad enough, but flying seemed to trigger something, sending a relentless, densely packed rain of arrows at him.
Even someone of Zhang Xiao's caliber felt a little unnerved at the sight of arrows swarming like locusts.
Looking through his Dharma Eye, he saw that whenever he rose toward the space above the ruins, the entire stretch of water overhead filled with a pale purple glow. It was clearly some sort of ward restricting aerial entry.
He did not know whether Dumbledore had installed it or whether it had always been part of the ruins, but that no longer mattered.
*Fine. If I can't go overhead, I'll
