"I still need to find some bones. Without bone meal, the plants grow way too slowly. Wonder where the American Babaoshan is..."
Yang Bo sat on a cobblestone slab, a cigarette between his lips, slowly exhaling smoke. He twirled a sharp Stake in his hand, his gaze cold as he recalled being treated as food the night before.
"No idea where those bastards are hiding, either. If only I could run into Blade. At least I could get some information..."
He put away the Stake in his hand and stood up.
The Stake was a tool Hunters used against vampires in the Vampire Mod. Its crafting recipe was extremely simple: just two sticks and one wooden plank.
But it increased the chances of vampires dropping loot. Killing a vampire with a Stake would yield vampire soul and vampire blood.
Once the skill [Basic Use of the Stake] was unlocked, a Stake could also instantly kill vampire creatures with less than 35% health remaining.
Unlocking [True Use of the Stake] allowed the user to kill vampires with less than 200 health from behind.
He walked over to the Crafting Table, took out some sticks, and crafted a few wooden ladders. He placed them in the shaft leading to the surface and slowly climbed up, then dug out the dirt block overhead with his shovel. Poking his head out, he checked that no one was nearby, jumped out of the hole, and reached back to seal the entrance.
Night had fully fallen, especially here in the dense woods. There were no tourists left in sight, but the faint screams of a woman told him things weren't quite as simple as they appeared.
"Fuck, making that much noise out in the open? They've really got no shame!"
Yang Bo wasn't the sort who enjoyed watching a live show. There was always a chance he might get invited to join the ride, but he preferred to keep himself clean. As long as his life wasn't in danger, he still wanted his first ride to be in a brand-new car.
Following the sound, he headed in the opposite direction. For now, though, he only dared to walk slowly. His hunger was down to eight points-just four drumsticks. If he ran much longer, he feared he wouldn't even be able to flee if danger struck.
After more than ten minutes, Yang Bo finally returned to modern civilization. Manhattan's skyscrapers blazed with lights at night, and the streets bustled with pedestrians. Compared to the daytime, it was at night that this city truly showed its charm.
Suddenly, Yang Bo caught a foul stench. It assaulted both his body and mind, and new information suddenly popped into his head.
There's a vampire!
He narrowed his eyes and looked toward the source of the smell. A young white man wearing a brown short-sleeved shirt was walking toward him, but the man wasn't targeting him. He was merely passing by.
A golden outline appeared around the man's body. Strangely, it didn't stop Yang Bo from clearly seeing his pale face. Even when passersby blocked the man from view, he could still see that golden outline through their bodies.
Is... is this Vampire Sense?
Yang Bo was stunned. The effect reminded him of [Vampire Sense], a skill for the Hunter class in the game that allowed players to detect nearby wild vampires and vampire players.
But that skill could only be learned by a level-four Vampire Hunter. He was just a level-zero novice Hunter. How could he possibly have such an ability? He silently issued a command.
Open the Vampire Mod skill menu!
The moment the thought crossed his mind, the Vampire Mod skill menu appeared before Yang Bo. Since his current class was Hunter, it only displayed Hunter skills. Several skills occupied the middle of the menu, but apart from [Vampire Sense], all of them were grayed out and unavailable.
The remaining skill points were displayed in the upper-right corner. Normally, someone who had just acquired a class would have zero skill points there. His was different, however. It actually showed -1!
That's allowed? Can we make a deal? Let me unlock all the skills first, and I'll pay you back once I level up.
Unfortunately, Yang Bo didn't have a system at all, so his wishful thinking was clearly going nowhere.
He turned around naturally and followed the vampire. Thanks to his skill, Yang Bo only needed to trail him at a distance. After testing it, he found that as long as the vampire stayed within twenty meters, the golden outline wouldn't disappear.
And even when the vampire vanished from sight, he could still smell traces of that nauseating odor lingering in the air.
He couldn't help sticking out his tongue and licking his lips, excitement gleaming in his eyes as though he'd spotted a beauty in black stockings.
Damn, that foreign babe is tall. What a figure. One ride with her would snap my back... Huh? Where'd he go?
Distracted by that wicked sight, he lost track of the vampire in an instant. Yang Bo wasn't too worried, though, because the lingering smell in the air still guided him. He quickened his pace, and soon the vampire came back into view.
There were fewer and fewer pedestrians around. Yang Bo suspected the vampire had noticed him following. After all, he wasn't a trained scout. The man glanced back at him, shoved his hands into his pockets, and headed somewhere even more deserted.
Watching him enter an alley, Yang Bo gave a faint, amused smile.
You really think you've got nothing to fear!
He himself was this bold because he could respawn. What gave the vampire that much confidence, however, he had no idea.
Watching the vampire hide around the corner of the alley and wait for him, Yang Bo gently shook his head. His gaze gradually turned cold, and the smile vanished from his face.
A Stone Axe appeared in his hand out of thin air. Keeping close to the wall, he bent forward into a half crouch and approached the alley. This counted as Minecraft's sneaking ability, reducing the noise he made.
Two steps from the alley, Yang Bo stopped. Thanks to his skill's special effect, he could clearly "see" the vampire standing around the corner. The man was obviously ready. The moment Yang Bo showed his face, he would surely be dragged into the alley and given a vicious "kiss."
Heh...
The human and the vampire stood on opposite sides of the corner. Yang Bo raised his Stone Axe. As soon as the vampire lost patience and poked his head out, he would give him a surprise.
When the footsteps stopped, the vampire clearly grew restless. He kept shifting around, as though debating whether to take a look.
A minute later, the vampire could no longer contain himself. He cautiously poked his head around the corner to check what was happening outside.
"Surprise, motherfucker!"
The vampire had barely turned toward the voice when Yang Bo hopped up and slammed the Stone Axe into his head. The twenty-eight health points displayed above his head immediately dropped by thirteen.
