Fury was helpless too. Goose had spent so many years posing as an orange tabby at S.H.I.E.L.D. and rarely hurt anyone, so he had let the cat wander around freely.
Who could have imagined Hermione would recognize Goose at first glance? Now, even if he insisted Goose was just an orange tabby, would anyone believe him?
The young witch had summoned a goddamn dragon over that cat, and now he was supposed to tell them Goose was just an orange tabby?

Hermione gave a little snort. "Unless you have the Tesseract or you're proficient in Space Magic, you'll be spending the rest of your life in there!"
At the mention of the Tesseract, Fury's heart skipped a beat. Only when he saw no particular reaction from Hermione did he relax a little, a rare trace of unease flashing across his dark face.
Quite a few people present knew the Tesseract was in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s underground base, and they too cast discreet glances at Fury.
Hermione naturally noticed their little gestures, but she couldn't be bothered to call them out.
Stepping forward, she gently picked up Goose.

Hmm... it doesn't say collected...
After a moment's thought, Hermione took a needle from her pocket anyway.
Holding Goose in her arms, she gently scratched under the cat's chin.
"Meow~"
Apparently enjoying the scratches, the cat closed its eyes and purred nonstop.
