Here she was!
Hermione perked up.
She had actually anticipated meeting the Ancient One. After all, the woman possessed the Time Stone and could observe the timeline.
With an interloper like Hermione appearing in the Marvel Universe, there was a good chance she would notice something amiss.
Hermione simply hadn't expected her to come looking so soon.
She had also considered how to answer the Ancient One's question, and in the end, she had reached just one conclusion.
It was simple: tell the truth.
She could feed Nick Fury those outrageous lies because the gap in their knowledge was enormous, but the Ancient One wasn't so easy to fool. Her understanding of this world ran far deeper than his, and pointless nonsense would only backfire.
So...
"I come from another world."
Hermione laid her cards on the table.
The Ancient One nodded, unsurprised by the answer.
"That world is similar to this one, but there are no superhumans or sorcerers, only wizards. Wizards have their own organizations, society, and specialized magic schools. I'm a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
"Coming here was purely an accident. While secretly researching some Forbidden Magic, I accidentally connected to this world and created a passage that only I could travel through in either direction, so..."
At this point, Hermione looked a little embarrassed. "I come over to have some fun whenever I'm free."
It was hardly as simple as having some fun.
She had told almost no lies, merely leaving out the Spellbook and presenting her world-hopping as the result of a magical experiment.
The Ancient One inclined her head slightly.
It was much as she had guessed. If a Wizarding World truly existed in this world, she couldn't possibly have been unaware of it. The only possibility was that it
