With a 999-damage strike, Lin Ze skewered the female villain who "couldn't put her love into words," then cleaved open the heavy iron door of the holding cell.
"Kids, your delicious Captain Cool has brought his family along to rescue you!"
Deadpool pointed around, surveying his domain. "...Twenty-seven little squirts in total."
"Mr. Wade!" "Deadpool's here!"
The children ran out excitedly. Some of the younger ones even burst into tears at the sight of Wade.
Lin Ze stepped aside. "All right, all right, kids. You're safe now. Your teachers are all outside. Let's hurry and get out of here."
Twenty-seven. That was basically all of them. He hadn't expected them to stumble upon the missing children before anyone else.
Rumble!
Suddenly, the entire base shook as tremors rolled through it.
Once he steadied himself, Wade scratched his ear.
"I wasn't done playing yet. What a shame."
"What are you muttering about, Rotten Walnut?" Paimon asked curiously.
Wade spread his hands. "Oh, nothing. Professor Charles just told me in my head that Logan's fight with someone smashed several of the shelter's load-bearing beams. The mountain's pressing down, and this place will collapse before long. He wants us to get moving."
"Huh?"
Lin Ze's eyes widened in shock. "Then why are you still standing here? Run!"
This was serious. Lin Ze hurried into action, sending the children ahead while he and Wade brought up the rear.
Within a few minutes-
Rumble! Rumble!
The ground trembled.
Fine cracks spread across the rock overhead in the passage, and stones of all sizes broke loose from the mountain and fell.
Lin Ze's heart started pounding too.
Fortunately, the children ran fairly fast. Despite a slight delay, they made it close to the exit before things deteriorated further.
Thud!
A huge rock smashed through the passage
