Coulson was utterly lost. He gave Natasha a questioning look, only to receive one that said, You handle this.
He had no idea what Black Widow was up to, but Natasha knew what she was doing. If she had brought this kid here at a time like this, she certainly had something in mind.
"Hello, Bennett. I'm Coulson. How about I have someone show you around first, and then we can talk about adventuring?"
He needed an excuse to send the kid away so he could question Natasha properly.

Bennett was delighted. Everything around him fascinated him. If he hadn't needed his host's permission, he would have run off to explore long ago.
"Haha, just call me Coulson."

Coulson summoned an agent to take the excited Bennett around. Once the two were out of earshot, he led Captain America onward and questioned Natasha as she walked beside him.
"Bennett is very capable. He wiped out that Germany officer's entire squad with a sword."
Natasha continued calmly, "At a time like this, nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. Why leave someone so talented for somebody else to recruit?"
"I asked him on the way here. Bennett is an orphan who was raised by the veteran adventurers in his adventure team. Right now, he's out exploring the world on his own."
"Isn't picking up stray kids Professor Charles's job? Do you think he's a mutant?"
Coulson countered, "Director Fury won't agree to let him stay."
"Not necessarily." Natasha's gaze rested on the soldiers hurriedly forming ranks on the deck. "Things aren't what they used to be. You heard about what happened with the X-Men a few days ago. The information leaked from our side."
