A fight broke out below.
Captain America dropped from the sky, sending the still-prattling Loki flying with a plunging attack. He raised his shield, his expression stern and focused, and advanced on Loki step by step, the metal gleaming under the lights.
"An American soldier."
Loki climbed to his feet and drove his Scepter into the ground, gritting his teeth, his gaze vicious.
"The enthralled one has already told me all about you. You're obsolete, soldier."
Natasha ground her teeth. She knew Loki meant Barton, who had turned against them, and anger welled up inside her.
The fighter deployed its underbelly mount, aiming its heavy machine gun at the target below.
"Loki, drop your weapon and surrender immediately."
The woman's voice reached Loki through the aircraft's loudspeakers, drawing a sneer from him.
"Ha ha ha ha ha..."
Loki threw back his head and laughed arrogantly, his voice echoing through the air, brimming with provocation and contempt.
"You think this can stop me? You underestimate me."
Before he had even finished speaking, he raised his Scepter and fired. A white beam shot from its blue gem toward the fighter.
Natasha frowned and maneuvered the aircraft out of its path with lightning speed.
But Loki showed no sign of stopping. He meant to keep fighting, and Steve would not let him pull that trick again. Steve hurled his shield straight into Loki's chest.
Loki was hardly someone who could be defeated so easily. He raised his Scepter to retaliate, and the two began trading blows.
One blue figure and one green figure fought fiercely, neither giving ground.
Although Loki lacked Steve's extensive combat skills, his speed and strength far surpassed his opponent's.
Captain America was soon forced onto the defensive.
