Clark had not originally planned to stay at Wayne Manor for long.
His latest "business trip" to Outer Space had kept him away for two or three months. Today, he had only meant to exchange information with Batman and give Bruce the alien "local specialties" he had brought back for him.
He had never expected to meet Bruce's newly adopted daughter, much less discover that this seemingly delicate, adorable little girl was a Merfolk girl from a parallel world.
What surprised Clark most was that every member of the Merfolk possessed a powerful vocal illusion technique called "Illusion Song." For Superman, whose magic resistance was rather low, it was practically a perfect counter.
"Your gift really is incredible," Clark said sincerely.
"And very dangerous." Bruce looked at Miaomiao and tried to soften his voice a little as he cautioned the Little Merfolk. "Miaomiao, you're still a minor. Spells that control other people aren't something you should use casually, especially on someone as powerful as Superman."
An underage Merfolk's abilities were still unstable, and Superman losing control would be a terrifying thing.
They had already confirmed that long ago.
Bruce's gaze settled on Miaomiao's eyes, his tone gentle but serious. "Illusion abilities certainly have value in combat, but using them without clearly established safety limits is too risky."
Clark hurried to smooth things over. "Bruce, Miaomiao was just curious, and her abilities really do have potential. With proper guidance..."
"I'm not against her using her abilities, but there have to be rules," Bruce interrupted firmly. "Just like yours. Every ability needs limits, even Superman's. Earth doesn't need out-of-control superpowers."
Clark was instantly at a loss for words.
After all, time always proved that Batman was right.
"Nothing went wrong this time, but that doesn't mean there won't be an accident next
