As everyone was talking, Bruce's phone rang.
It was his private phone.
Bruce picked it up and glanced at the screen. His brow immediately furrowed, and he casually muted the phone and tossed it aside.
"Bruce, aren't you going to answer?"
After living with him for so long, Miaomiao knew that anyone who could call Bruce's private number was someone he considered close. But this was the first time she had seen him glance at a name and toss the phone aside.
"It's fine. Nothing important." Bruce waved dismissively, leaving the phone aside. "He'll call again. Or take a more direct approach."
"He?"
Miaomiao tilted her head. Who? From his tone, it seemed to be a friend of Bruce's. But if they were friends, why wouldn't Bruce answer his call?
Bruce was right. The person on the other end apparently hung up when no one answered. But immediately afterward, the phone rang again.
This time, after two rings, the call connected itself before Bruce could do anything. A male voice that sounded about Bruce's age came from the phone, full of energy and a little husky, demanding angrily:
"Bruce Wayne! You actually ignored my call!"
Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose, looking rather helpless. "Tony, you can't keep tearing down Wayne Manor's firewall."
"If you'd answered my call, would I have needed to tear down your firewall? So this is entirely your own fault. Nothing to do with me."
The man on the phone sounded like a petulant child, showing no sense that he had done anything wrong and instead laying all the blame on the other party. His voice was deep and resonant, his tone tinged with careless arrogance, yet somehow it wasn't unpleasant.
For some reason, Miaomiao felt certain that he must be a very interesting person.
