Waylon Jones was a poor soul born with a rare atavistic condition. As crocodile-like scales gradually grew over his body, he suffered discrimination from childhood, as well as abuse at the hands of his own relatives. As he grew older, his teeth and nails became increasingly sharp. His strength, speed, stamina, and reflexes far surpassed those of ordinary people. He was an excellent swimmer and even possessed some regenerative ability, but his appearance also became increasingly crocodilian.
He had once tried to be a "normal person," joining a circus as a sideshow wrestler and earning the nickname "Killer Croc." But his boss's greed and humanity's malice ultimately drove him to shed his "human disguise" and become one of Gotham's most notorious villains and a permanent fixture at Arkham-the real Killer Croc.
A few days earlier, Killer Croc had escaped from Arkham and, honoring an agreement he had made with Joker before the breakout, joined Clayface in intercepting Red Hood. Afterward, he returned to his lair-an abandoned subway station beneath Gotham City.
The station had been abandoned for some reason just before its completion. It had a fully functional ventilation system, while outside, it connected to Gotham City's sprawling, labyrinthine sewer network, making it the perfect base for Killer Croc.
Here, he had built his own underground kingdom, and he, Waylon Jones, was the king of this subterranean palace.
King of the sewers.
Yes, but so what?
Those magnificent mansions harbored filth and corruption, and those pretentious rich people were nothing but beasts in fine clothes. Here in these neglected sewers, freedom and equality truly reigned.
Killer Croc had enjoyed two happy days in his palace when, just moments ago, some outrageously brazen intruder had dared to sneak inside while he was out inspecting his territory!
*Was it Red Hood?! Had
