The tip of an umbrella tapped against the terrazzo floor with a rhythmic click-click.
Wearing a long black coat, Oswald walked up to the cell.
His face wore an expression that said, "Whoever locked Ririko up is going behind bars themselves."
But the next second, he saw the scene inside, and his nostrils instantly flared with rage, as though he might breathe fire at any moment.
Ririko and Dick sat on the same long bench, their bodies leaning slightly toward each other...
When Oswald saw Dick's young, handsome face and his heartthrob physique, so much taller and broader-chested than his own... his nostrils flared again.
"Open the door right now!" he bellowed at Bullock, itching to give Dick a few vicious whacks with his umbrella.
Bullock selected a key from the ring, inserted it into the lock, and turned it.
He stepped back, clearing the doorway.
Leaning on his umbrella, Oswald entered the cell and walked up to Ririko.
His round eyes stared at Ririko and Dick. In the end, he only managed to squeeze out, "Let's go."
Even angry, he couldn't bear to take it out on her.
Ririko rose from the bench and folded her arms, complaining, "What took you so long?"
"I came as soon as I could," Oswald muttered.
He'd had to call Gordon and put serious pressure on him before he could use his special connections to get her out quickly.
Ririko turned back and glanced at Dick.
Dick gave her an understanding look: Go on. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine.
Standing at the cell door, Bullock watched the furious Penguin mayor lose all his bluster the instant he saw Ririko. He finally understood that she really was "very close" to the mayor.
The car drove into the newly renovated Mayor's Mansion.
