The moment the raid began, Alarag, mounted on the Warg leader, ordered every Warg Rider under his command to charge the camp. At once, more than a hundred Wargs rushed forward, howling, their eyes gleaming blood-red.

The Half-orc commander had observed that the human camp's wooden palisade was neither particularly high nor sturdy, and the human sentries could not possibly stop all the charging Warg Riders.

The experienced Alarag knew that once his bloodthirsty, swift-moving troops reached the camp, they could unleash a horrific massacre on the humans who had only just woken from sleep. The blow to human morale would be devastating.

Even if the Dwarves and some of the humans managed to organize resistance, they would not cause him much trouble. By then, the several hundred wretches running behind them would have arrived. Though they were no match for elite soldiers, they were quite adept at fighting demoralized humans making a desperate last stand.

There was nothing wrong with Alarag's assessment. The Half-orcs' rapid assembly had left Baren very little time to prepare, and he had only managed to build a defensible camp so quickly thanks to the Dwarves' help.

Since men had to be sent to assist the Dwarves during the day, there were naturally far fewer available for night watch. Never mind stopping over a hundred Warg Riders-even if the enemy had only half that number, the guards on the palisade would still have been nowhere near enough.

The Wargs' excited howls naturally drew the sentries' attention. Soon, a shrill, urgent alarm rang through the night, and the camp immediately stirred into activity.

Charging alongside his Warg Riders, Alarag naturally noticed the humans' response, but paid it no mind. It was perfectly normal and differed little from what he had anticipated when planning the raid.
