Several thousand mu of fertile farmland had already been cleared southeast of the hot spring waterfall on the Cisland Peninsula. With the warm underground fortress providing space to start seedlings early, staple crops such as corn, soybeans, peas, barley, oats, and wheat had already sprouted in the fields.
That expanse of fresh green brought new life to Cisland!
The fertile soil and excellent water conditions allowed all these crops to thrive. They were all high-yield varieties newly developed on Holy Flame Island, and this was the first attempt to grow them at such a high latitude. So far, the results looked promising.
On the barren tundra west of the hot spring waterfall, Medrick and his people had organized workers to sow a considerable quantity of improved pasture grass seeds as soon as they arrived. Those had now all sprouted as well.
As temperatures continued to rise, more and more tundra emerged along the Frozen Shore. All kinds of wildflowers and low-growing plants sprang up like mushrooms after rain.
This drew some of the herbivores sheltering in the Frostfangs Mountains down toward the area. To protect the high-yield pasture grass, Medrick had specifically ordered wooden fences erected around it.
Perhaps because three great dragons had made their home here, however, wild sheep and deer never dared approach, unlike the small rodents.
In many parts of the Cisland Peninsula near the Frostfangs Mountains, digging just a few meters down could bring a hot spring gushing to the surface. Layers of warm soil were also fairly common.
This not only supplied the island's residents with ample geothermal resources, but also made those warm soil layers ideal for fermenting farmyard manure. Medrick and his people had arrived only a little over a month earlier, yet the manure composting near the hot springs was already
